Autismone LIVE! Pandas info

Recommended Posts

Just a reminder that the AutismOne conference is streming live.

Dr. C is up in a few minutes at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/autism-one-conference-2. You will need to make an account before you can see her. There are also several recorded sessions to watch later.

Dr. C gave new information - starting about halfway through. Hopefully it will be recorded. She did talk about D1 vs D2 and gave more information on the Tel Aviv stud (I don't think this study has been published yet)

Dr. rossignol is on now - metabolic disorder including glutathione info at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/autism-one-conference-3

Wow! Dr. Rossignol actually explain oxidative stress and the use of antioxidants in a way that makes sense!! His handouts are here http://www.autismone.org/sites/default/files/Rossignol,%20Daniel%205-29%20Metabolic%20Abnormalities.pdf

Addressing Immune Malfunction for Autistic Children

Autism affects three major systems, nervous, digestive and immune system. Biomedical approach addresses nervous and digestive issues well, but lack of effective therapy to help immune malfunction such as allergy and hidden infections (Lyme disease and PANDAS), which have to be addressed for those who don’t respond to biomedical treatment well. This talk introduces an alternative approach to the immune malfunction with energy medicine, which is complementary to biomedical treatment for autism.

Harry G. Hong, PhD, MD (China), LAc

Dr. Harry Hong was trained with Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. He received his master and doctoral degrees in Biomedical Science in the States. He has practiced holistic medicine in the Chicago area for 12 years. He provides a one-of-the-kind holistic program to address immune malfunction and energy imbalance. He specializes in treating allergies, autism and autoimmune disorders with energetic therapies such as meridian testing, allergy desensitization, homeopathy and Chinese Medicine.

I watched the recording of Dr. Bradstreet's presentation yesterday found at http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/14976060

Here are a couple of interesting notes I made:

The video begins with Dr. Richard Frye, but Jeff Bradstreet starts about 25 minutes into the video.

- Around 52 minutes he talks about quercetin, tryptophan, and 5 thp. Cautions against using quercetin and trypotphan in some kids

- Around 1:15 he talks about PANDAS briefly, then goes on to talk about motrin, naproxen, curcumin, steroids, IVIG, spironolactone and other anti inflammatories

Do you know what he means by 400 - 800 mg/kg of IVIG (except for PANDAS). We've been doing 1 1/2 mg/kg, and that's a huge amount.

I think what he meant was .4-.8 g/kg for ASD and 1.5-2.0 g/kg for pandas...he threw you with the mg. Thank you for the link to the handouts!!!!

Here is the archive video of Cunningham. I have no idea how long it will be available online.

Thanks Vickie, your link made it easy to get through and watch, which I just finished. It was very sobering to me, and a bit frightening :-/ I hope the paper coming out makes the path easier in the future.

Is there a way to get a listing of videos that are available? I see a "recent videos" scroll bar, but only a few videos are listed. I'm struck by how many of the topics are "cross-overs" between Pandas, lyme and autism - brain chemistry, immunity, detox, inflammation...it's almost like its all the same thing...just a matter of degree.

If anyone watches any videos and wants to post notes or comments, maybe they could do it via this thread? That way we woud have everything together

Thanks for posting this ..there is just soooo much information. I watched Dr C's - very relevant to all pandas parents. Its hard to tell which of the other presentation are worth watching for pandas related stuff....I started to watch the one on neuroinflamation, but my attention is waning..maybe later tonight I'll look at that one and let you know.
