I'm just wondering what your school experiences are for your kids. When dd11 started this last episode we pulled her to start homeschooling. I can't imagine her being in school right now. Please share your school experiences and whether or not your kids are public, private, have an IEP, etc. I'm wondering what are best choice should be for next school year.

Our school has provided home bound schooling since the third week of school. I'm praying that she is in a much better place for the next grade and can go back. If not, we are considering our churches school. If that will not work, we will do on-line education. But, I'm really hoping to be able to go back to work next fall. I'm broke! lol

My girls go to a public school. It is a montessori program however offered by our school district. It has been a very good environment for them and the school has been very good about working with us to help us with any needs they have had. We have a 504 plan in place. I have been very lucky so far that they have been able to be in fairly good shape at school and fall apart at home. But also this school is flexible so they can arrange their day a little more around their needs (for example dd9 can go to a quiet corner of the room when she is overwhelmed and she wore noise reducing headphones for much of the year when the class got too loud).

Our local school offered a 2 hr. tutor once a week so I withdrew my son this year and have him in a free on-line school that has worked pretty well (as good as it gets with a child who has flu symptoms every day and is 13!). He brought his 504 with him. It is called K12.com. I initially thought you had to pay for their program but there is a part that is free. It is available only in certain states so not sure if yours is one of them. Since my son is 7th grade about 25% of his work is on-line. As he progresses (not sure if he will be in it next year) the on-line portion increases. There is a 'teacher' that your child has to contact once a week and we have a phone conference once a month. The rules for testing etc. are the same as public school except we have a very flexible schedule. There are some requirements and we try to meet them for weekly time (25 hours). He works on the weekends to get caught up and we go to the park on sunny days to do school work. He also will be finishing up classes throughout the summer as he missed a lot of time this year.

PM me if you want any additional info.

Interesting that you mention k12. We were going to do that one or connections academy but our state, Georgia, has just found state run charter schools to be unconstitutional. I'm so upset about it. Hopefully they will figure out a way around it. I just don't know what or when.

We had to pull Shae out in January. She has a 504 & IEP. The public school has to provide her with a tutor but paperwork didn't allow him to start until March. <_< He is only required to be here for an hour but would actually leave after about 45 minutes because he had so many students.

We will try two weeks of summer school for two hours a day in July at her school. Hopefully this will be enough of a transition that we can get her back next year. If not-homeschooling will be my preferred option for next year.

From a Mom who said she would and could never homeschool.....I am and am so at peace since deciding and seeing all the great resources out there!! We tried 4 schools in 6 years. No IEP because it really would not have made a difference in the way the teachers treated my kids or in the way the other kids treated them. They are so relieved knowing that they do not have that stress on them any longer. One friend said to me, "How bad does it have to get?" So, I pass that onto you not to try and said it's what you should do, but just to say that it has made a big difference here. And, I'm actually a little excited :-) Plus, they're both doing IVIG and now they can stay out of the germs and build immunity, I hope. Best Wishes for clarity!!
