pixiesmommy Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I'm working with my dr to try to get our strep sent to a lab for them to see what abx it's resistant to. He said he has never heard of this w/strep A before. Has anyone done it? What lab have you used? We're 15 months on tx dose of various abx now for our whole family and can't clear it and I'm desperate. Both my girls have PANDAS now, my 3 yr old currently having rages, phobias, and OCD, and both have come up pos for Lyme as well.
dcmom Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Have you tried clindamycin? Both if my girls came down with strep while on multiple antibiotics (one zith and augmentin, the other on zith and rifampin). We switched them to 14 days of clinda, and it seems to have done the trick (negative cultures, symptoms disappearing).
peglem Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Our doctor sent in a swab for sensitivity to either sonora quest or labcorp. They didn't get anything to grow though, so it wasn't completed. It was one of those rapid positive/culture negative situations. But, the problem with these tests is they are testing sensitivity in a petri dish which may or may not work out the same in the body w/ other micro-flora and what not. It could very well test sensitive to things you've already tried that didn't work.
pixiesmommy Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 - We haven't tried clindamycin, but will see if we can give that one a go -True. I understand that about petri dishes, but sitting here with the same old Azith/Cipro/Cefdinir/Augmentin cycles, I am feeling helpless and need to do something, anything.

I think Clinda cleared my daughter, too!
