smith1948
We think my son may have tourettes. Over the years, there have been progressive issues and in the past two weeks he has started with uncontrolled verbal tics. Which for some reason, sounds like he's saying the F-word under his breath. Anyway, he always seems to jerk his back and shoulders, like he's itchy, for several years. In the past few months, he has began fiddling with his hair obsessively and we had him in counseling for extreme anxiety and constant worry about death he had. I read stuff and notice things that I didn't think were relevant but I don't want to overreact either. He has become vey self-conscious about the verbal ticks and it breaks my heart. He's 8-1/2 and has always been particular about things like having square bread for his sandwiches...etc. My big question is where do I start? I don't know if I should make an appointment with a pediatric neurologist, counseling, pediatrician or what. Unfortunately, right now we have medicaid and I'm not very confident in the public health pediatrician to be helpful. Laura
