mkur Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 I do think this says something PANDAS in less-privilaged groups...their kids are more likely to end up with CPS in a mental institution than at Dr. K's, Dr. B's, Dr. L's correctly diagnosed and treated. This worries me too. In 1997, we had insurance and I could not find an answer for 11 months. I looked and looked. No help available - long waiting list for any specialist and for referrals etc. We finally started paying out-of-pocket for a psy which helped with meds but no treatment. He told us about pandas but the NIH said they outgrow it and do not take out their tonsils. It is so sad.....all that pain.... all those lost years. Today we have insurance and are able to afford to travel to see a pandas doc for treatment and HOPE.
