Mr_Helper
This test is just seeing if you MIGHT have OCD. The doctor is the only one who can say if you have OCD. Test Questions: 1. Do you have unwated thoughts in your head that will not go away? Yes or No 2.Do you feel like if you dont do somthing somthing bad will happen? Yes or No 3.Are the thoughts like: sexual, religious, or any other ones? Yes or No 4.Do you often wash you hands frequently, count things, make things strait or other things? Yes or No 5.Do you want all the above to stop? Yes or No If you answered all yes than you most likely have OCD but you should see a doctor for diagnosis. The two main treatment options for OCD are: Behavior Therapy Medicine Personally, if you have OCD I would HIGHLY reccomend BOTH. Also, some people do not support taking medicine but OCD can also relate to low levels of Setorin(I think that is what it is called) in the brain and medicine can help restore the inblanace. I am not saying it will make it go away but it will help make the thoughts "Less Intense". In Behavior Therapy your therapist will teach you how to controll the thoughts and help you beat OCD. Remember, only a DOCTOR can say if you have OCD. Also, if you do have OCD I know it is a tough thing to beat but you can do it and it will take time but adventually you will get rid of it. It feels great to be free of OCD! Thank You and if you have any questions about OCD, the test, or symptoms just PM me or ask me. Thanks! :-) This test was created by Mr.Helper and shall not be copied without my permission. Mr.Helper©
Sheila
Hi, Mr. Helper. Thanks for your interest in our forum. I think your checklist will help people see if they may have symptoms of OCD that need to be explored. Good idea. I would agree that behavior therapy can be very helpful for OCD. Medicine also helps many people, but our organization would not support the idea that everyone with OCD should pursue them. You probably know that more young children than ever are experiencing OCD symptoms. At the same time, some of the drugs used to treat OCD such as Prozac, Zoloft, and Paxil are under new scrutiny for serious and even deadly rare side effects. We would tend to consider drugs a last resort rather than a first line of treatment, particularly for children. Also, there is increasing evidence that OCD is related to the immune system and brain inflammation from infection, in which case efforts to address the infection would seem a more sensible place to start. We are living at a time when major changes are taking place in the understanding and treatment of OCD. Some material has been added to our website on this topic, highlighting current thought. Natural treatments for OCD and anxiety Thanks for the reminder, also, that people should see a professional to determine if they have OCD. Best wishes, Sheila
