Something came to me last night. Over the past several weeks, youngest sons tics have been increasing in frequency. It started at the beginning of a month long round of throat infection/virus. Both cultures came back negative for streph. The second one, I would have bet would have been positive, he had a whole bunch of very visable white patches on tonsils. He took one round of amoxycillian.

 

Now I'm wondering if the switch to Animal Parade vitamins has had something to do with it. When I looked up some things on my boys blood work, that was done through reg. Ped. They both had high MPV and Low Neutrophils, both can indicate folic acid and vit B12 deficiencies.

 

Youngest was taking Meijers Circus Shapes, forever. I decided I needed to get him a better quality vitamin, so I bought the Animal Parade at a Health Food store.

Last night I looked at the amount of folic acid in Meijers brand-400mcg, the Animal Parade has 10 mcg per two tablets. AP has 20 mg Calcium, Meijers has 100 mg calcium, AP has 10 mg. magnesium, Meiger has 20 mg. magnesium. Both have 6 mcg of B12. Zinc, copper and some others in Animal Parade are lower too.

 

Today I am going to start giving him the old Meijers brand again, and see if it makes any difference. I know a few others here use Animal Parade too, and wondered if you have see positive/negative results when switching.

I too use Animal Parade but not the one from Twinn Lab. The Twinn Lab Animal Parade seemed low on a whole bunch of stuff. So I switched to another brand called "Animal Parade" (I'll check the manufacturer) but this one I liked because it has Choline and Inositol. I also do lethicin and of course juicing. The amount of vitamins, minerals and enzymes within the juice provide the vitamins needed daily and as a boost I do the vitamins twice daily. But check to see if your AP is from Twinn Lab or not.

I know what you are feeling. I too am on the strep/virus thing and have noticed an increase of tics. Last night the eye thing came back and the throat clearing thing is still present. He started with that croupie cough again so I guess he has some post nasal drip. I have to keep reminding myself that all that moves is not a tic.

My Animal Parade is Manufactured by Natural Organic Labs. Makers of Natures Plus,per the label. This is a 2 chewable a day dose. Do you do 4 or is yours a single a day, and you do two? This one also has Pineapple fruit, Apple Fruit, Sunflower oil, Lemon Bioflavonoid, PABA, Choline, and Inositol. I liked that too, and had planned on supplementing, Cal, Mag and zinc myself, not exceeding the UL limit in anything. I never did that, except about 18 mgs of zinc, every other night. Then I got involved in trying to get testing, and wanted to keep his system in it's natural state as much as possible. It's so hard to stop something, once you start and feel it's helping, but I just think the testing with a Dr. supervision is the right thing to do.

Also, holding my breath until yeast test comes back.

 

Our throat problems cleared up, oldest son did test positive for strep during the same time period. He is on Bonnie's supplements. I didn't notice any tic flairs for him. Coughs during that were minimal.

 

You mentioned lethicin, it seems like I am seeing this mentioned lately and I don't know anything about it. Should look that up.

 

Hope the cough clears soon. Did you try Chemar's lemon tea suggestion?
