Wilma Jenks Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 I had Ingenex test done. B4 hand, I asked the person helping us, if we should use provocation. He said not that the test alone would be enough to tell us what we need 2 know. I have a lot of faith in this person, but keep hearing the opposite from people. What is your experience, and I welcome comments. Thansks so much.
cobbiemommy Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 My son's test was reactive without provocation. Of course, the doc did not read the test appropriately so we missed the diagnosis for a year.
sf_mom Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 We did provocation and is consider very accurate: Dot Blot is in the 90% and PCR Urine is like 97%. BUT, a negative results does not rule out Lyme. Sometimes there isn't enough die-off in the urine to accurately pick it up and often only one day is positive. I prefer the test because very sick individuals are often weak antibody responders and sometimes do not register response when antibodies are tested. In our case, its congenital Lyme and my children do not recognize the bacteria as foreign and are currently serologically negative. They do not make antibodies for LD so any antibody testing would have produced a false negative result. Our younger son is positive for Babesia/Bartonella but IND for Lyme. Those results are expected to turn once he is further into treatment. So sometimes you may not even find it until you test for co-infections and undergo treatment for a while. We will be retesting our younger DD for Babesia to see if she has converted. Obviously there is a lot of investigative work that needs to be done and truly seeing an LLMD first is the best way to get the assistance in ruling/in or out chronic infection. -Wendy
Wilma Jenks Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 What is Dot Blot and PCR urine? Is this a part of the Ingenex test. So if the Igenex test is negative perhaps I should continue on and do provocation next? Or I guess I should have done it from the get go???
