Is Dr. Lawrence Jung in Washington, DC a PANDAS DR?

My brother thinks his two children may have PANDAS. I have thought this for quite some time now.

 

He has an appointment with Dr. Latimer in mid-April. His pediatrician knows nothing about PANDAS. After his son was seen by a urologist after having post-strep glomerulonephritis, the urologist knew about PANDAS and said this doctor treats PANDAS.

 

Does anyone know if he truly treats PANDAS or how he treats it? I don't want my brother wasting time and I am so worried his son is not on any antibiotics. He was on only 8 days of Biaxin.

 

The doctor is Dr. Lawrence Jung in Washington, DC and he is a rheumotologist. His specialties: Systemic lupus erythematosus, Dermatomyositis (juvenile), Juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

I don't know him, but Dr Latimer is amazing, and if your brother is in the area- I can't imagine using anyone else.

 

I would ask her to put them on her cancellation list

Latimer can't see them until mid April. His pediatrician will probably not give them antibiotics. Not sure what to do except to find someone who gets PANDAS and will give antibiotics until they see Dr. L.

Where is your brother?-- we have seen Dr Bita Arabshahi (in Fairfax) she is affliated with INOVA. We have seen her with one of my PANDAS daughters on a non-PANDAS issue (enthesitis- but my daughter is HLA-B27 positive, so we are watching out for any progression to something toward AS)

 

I have no idea her feeling about PANDAS- but she was very kind to us with the joint issues-- maybe she is geographically closer. as soon as I can get my daughter to go back to her for a follow-up, I will approach the PANDAS issue with her- last time we went this child was not affected with PANDAS and I did not mention my older child.
