peglem Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Last night Allie developed a fear of blankets, all of them. Thank God she's not raging anymore since she's off lamictal or last night could have been really terrible. Couldn't even cover her after she fell asleep- she'd jump up like I threw ice water on her. We didn't get much sleep!
Mary M Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Oh peglem, I'm so sorry. During the rough patches the lack of sleep is such a source of dysfunction for ME, and we moms are supposed to be the ones holding it all together. I hope you can get even a little sleep... Mary from Michigan

Mary from Michigan I'm actually chuckling about it this morning! She has a granny with a penchant for covering her up at night and all night long granny kept checking on her and covering her up- Allie climbed on top of me and fell asleep after I'd passed out on the couch. I'm just so relieved that there was no aggression or SIB on Allie's part, and I didn't even pummel granny-though I may have briefly dreamed about it!
trggirl Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 We have been battling this one for the last three weeks. It is making nights miserable because my daughter wakes up over and over cold.
peglem Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 We have been battling this one for the last three weeks. It is making nights miserable because my daughter wakes up over and over cold. Now, see, I didn't think something this weird would apply to anybody else. Gosh, thought we were special! Guess I'm still punchy!
trggirl Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 In my daughter's case, she thinks something is under the blankets and sheets. Even though we shake them and hold them up for her to see, she is still convinced there is something underneath. Maybe that is what your daughter is thinking!? We are both special!

dcmom Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Peg- I think it is a great sign that although something is really bothering her- there is no rage or SIB- I would say that is major progress....
peglem Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 Peg- I think it is a great sign that although something is really bothering her- there is no rage or SIB- I would say that is major progress.... Yes! She's only had 2 very minor incidences since quitting the lamictal 9 days ago. In a totally unrelated event, sometime during the night somebody defaced our sidewalk with a 4 foot penis in white paint-circumcised and everything. I'm so punchy from lack of sleep, I just can't stop laughing.
pixiesmommy Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I don't have anything to add, but LOL about the graffiti! There is a product to remove paint from concrete, etc. They probably know what it is at Home Depot... I can't remember right now!

Maybe you should consider leaving it there for awhile and use it for therapy for yourself. When you are feeling down you can go out and have a good laugh! I guess you are special afterall!! I don't think anyone is going to match the four foot penis story!
kferricks Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 If she is afraid of all blankets, maybe you coud get her a snugglie to wear like jammies? That way she does'nt need a blanket. My dds' ocd keeps making her switch blankets from time to time (and pillows). but this winter, I bought her jammies with the feet (they make them big enough for me), but they turned out to be too hot for her.

I'm thinking sweats. But she did let me wrap her in a blanket after her bath this morning...so lets hope tonight is not a problem.
peglem Posted February 23, 2011 Author Report Posted February 23, 2011 Oh, yeah! She fell asleep on the couch last night and slept through the night! And I was able to put a few light blankets on her!
nomoz Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 My daughter has terrible night fears and anxiety - instead of fearing the blanket, she puts her ENTIRE self underneath it, so nothing can get in! Hope things keep getting better for you!
