kim
Sydney, I feel leaving this to mainstream medical doctors is not the only way to go. I tried that route for 6 years, and two boys, and have come up with a million times more information, with the help of the people on this site, and the links they have provided. Keep reading the threads, learn as much as you can, and ask questions when ever you want, and get a second opinion from a specialty Dr, it seems there is a lot of success with some of the alternative treatments. There are at least a couple of us here, just really getting started and a ton of things to explore to make improvements. I'm glad you found the site, I personally believe it has the potential to change his life. Kim By the way, something just occured to me, about 4 years ago I tried to come up with something on Tourette Syndrome on my own. I remember coming across a syndrome called Prader Willy which I can't remember any details, but it mentioned underdeveloped genitals. A friend of mine had a child with concern over this, so it caught my attention. Might be worth doing a search on, to see if it gives any clue. kim
Wanted to update on "testing without Dr." I talked to Louis again at Spectracell. Claire posted a price for the Spectracell 5000 that was quite a bit less than the price I was quoted which was $310.00. I called to verify that this was a prepaid price, as some are more expensive if they try to bill the insurance. He said that is the prepaid fee. Maybe like everything else, the price has just gone up. They did ask me for what state I was ordering, so I guess there is a possibility that there is some difference from state to state. I told Louis that I couldn't find a lab to do the draw without a Dr's signature. But after looking at the Lab order from Direct Labs for the Dysbiosis Marker test (yeast), I asked Louis if there was a Dr. name at all on the order. If you can believe it, I don't remember what he said about that, but he is sending me the test kit and lab order, it requires two vials of blood, I believe. If they won't do the draw, there is no cost to me. The test kit is free, you only need to send a check or credit card # when returning the vials from the lab. Again, I do not plan on supplementing deficiencies without the guidance of a Dr. and not recommend others do either. I just want some confirmation, that we have problems in this area before we start with someone 150 miles away. Louis said if you have a PPO like Blue cross/blue shield, there is a $95.00 copay. Currently I have an HMO-Health Plus and they provide no coverage for this type of testing. They also have less expensive forms of this type of test, I posted the prices previously, the more inexpensive the test, the less it checks. I figure with the yeast testing, and the Spectracell 5000, My insurance change papers finally came today yippee!
