Wilma Jenks Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I hope you guys don't mind all of the questions, but here it goes.... I am awaiting the vancol. in the mail, but until then, her OCD and non stop worrying with much aggitation is just too much too watch. I have tried inositol, celexa, luvox, seroquel and some others to hlep this child, but they seem to do know good. Please tell me that you guys have seen this horrible beast get better with some of the treatmenst that your using? What can I do to give relief in the short run? Thanks for lisitneing to me.
lynn Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Wilma I know how hard it is to watch this, and I'm so sorry you have to go through it. I imagineyou've already seen advice about advil, epsom salt baths, charcoal and making sure yeast is not rearing its ugly head. The only other thing that works in my house is to try and make the stress level go down. Sometimes this does require inhuman amounts of patience, not to mention allowing things that you might not otherwise allow, but around here once stress is lower, OCD is much more controlable . Once the stress level is down, ERP methods can be tried, and if you post what OCD behaviors are worst, there are some experts on the board that could give you advice on some good ERP protocols. I have to say, I don't know if stress is as much a factor with others, but with my child it is absolutely key.
NancyD Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I completely agree with Lynn about keeping stress as low as possible. I find that REALLY helps. I try and keep things low-key at home with as few demands as possible, and light on after-school activities. I find that eating healthy food helps both mood and anxiety - high protein, low carbs, few sweets, no dyes or additives, and lots of water. Bentonite and Epsom salt baths work wonders. So does quercitin, a natural anti-inflammatory. We use very high doses. Anxiety and scrupulosity/OCD are our biggest problem too and I am hoping in time it will begin to improve with Lyme treatment. Most all of our other symptoms are gone, but anxiety is particularly high. Wendy has me exploring the possibility of Bartonella and I will discuss this with our doctor next week. Nancy
Wilma Jenks Posted February 4, 2011 Author Report Posted February 4, 2011 She has "Zero" stress. I don't put any pressure on her at all. Her symptoms are horrible and especially at night. She keeps saying the same sentence over and over and I have to reapeat what she says or she can't sleep. Her mind races with non-stop thoughts. She rambles thoughts from the day about a particular person that bugged her. The thoughts come so fast that she says "bla bla bla". I said what is bla bla bla, and she says "i need to just say bla bla bla, because I can't say all of the racing thoughts, there are too many. Then she stands on her head and flips off the bed. She gets up through the night to open the door of the bedroom a certain way. It has to be the same way every night, and she checks is all night long. She is 11, and wears pany liners now, and she can never get it to feel right. She rips them out all night long. We go through boxes and boxes. She is just so agitated. I guess I will just see what happens when I start the vancomycen.
