Feingold vs. Fail Safe Diet

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I've heard about the Feingold diet and have done a little reading on it, but I don't know anything about the Fail Safe diet. Am I spelling that correctly? My son Karl is on a no sugar, no dairy, no eggs, no oranges, no food coloring, no preservatives all organic diet. I've heard that if you join Feingold, they tell you what brands to buy etc. Would I be able to give them a list of what my son can and can not have and then they tell me what to buy???? I assume this sounds too good to be true. And what is the Fail Safe diet and how do I learn about it?

Thanks,

Dara

Hi Dara, I'm not familiar with the Failsafe, but I am familiar with Feingold. They publish a guide annually, listing all products they have researched and approved. They are very specific name brands - ex: Breyer's Vanilla Ice cream, in the black and white box - no "Light" brands, etc. They "approve" products that have no artificial ingredients (flavors, colors, preservatives BHA, BHT, and TBHQ. They do not list products that are gluten free, wheat free, etc. However, there are many people who follow Feingold who are also gluten free, casein free, etc. They share their product finds and experiences daily on the Members Bulletin Board - a very active forum such as this one.

In order to get the food guide, updates, and access to the BB, you need to become a member. First year is about $75; subsequent years are about $45. Check them out at feingold.org
