Pen shot vs daily abx

Hi. The doctor recommended we try a monthly shot of pen. instead of daily augmentin [which is working but not very well]. has anyone tried this with success or failure?

My daughter had just one of those shots.... *OUCH!* The needle is huge and the bolus is large. I liked the idea of bypassing the gut when giving abx, but just can't see being able to do that once/month with my daughter. Also, my daughter tested positive for strep just 12 days after the shot (which was supposed to be a 10 day supply).

this is bicillin LA 1,200,000 units. was your's the same?

It was bicillin, I don't know how many units- it was @ 5 years ago and I wasn't second guessing doctors yet.
