pixiesmommy Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Here are two pretty awesome blogs (by the same woman) that I found tonight. She suffered with Lyme for 20 years, undiagnosed, and has had a year of treatment using herbal abx and alternative meds, with excellent results. I'm interested to read more of her stuff when it's not midnight! Here is her journey: http://www.spirochicks.com/ And here is her alternative med blog about general health (though she talks about how things apply to Lyme): http://www.mednauseam.com And another, from someone else entirely, that I found while doing a search: http://lymenaide.wordpress.com/ This link by kmom in another post, but excellent info about detox baths, what the bands mean, and a comprehensive list of symptoms: http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&m=1606610 Edited November 23, 2010 by pixiesmommy
sf_mom Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Pixiesmommy: As you know its been a long journey and its strange to go full circle and rediscover friends in a new light. I actually practiced Yoga with Alix 'the blogger' behind Mednauseam. She also has boy/girl twins and was first diagnosed (after being misdiagnosed for years) about 16 months ago when we were first discovering PANDAS. She even has the typical 'bulls eye' rash still on her ankle from when she was originally bitten. We had the opportunity to talk lyme/Pandas at the time. I stopped doing regular yoga after our family fell apart with illness and she stopped due to vitamin IV. She has basically put her blog together in the last 16 months.... I just ran into a mutual friend and hope to reconnect with her. I understand she is currently worried that her daughter has congenital Lyme. Anyway, just thought I mention the 'odd' connection. -Wendy
pixiesmommy Posted November 23, 2010 Author Report Posted November 23, 2010 It is funny how we are all connected. It's also sad that so many of us are fighting the same battles. When I went dairy-free 3 years ago, I didn't realize how many people could not tolerate dairy and it opened my eyes to that. Then, we went white sugar-free and gluten-free and introduced raw milk and I found a whole new community, and some were friends I already had, but I just reconnected with them and learned of their struggles. Same with PANDAS- I have at least 3 friends who have children with suspected PANDAS, which I think is A LOT considering I have a rather small circle of friends. Now Lyme... the more I read, the more I am convinced that it is just running rampant through so many people I know and that is why all of us have the intolerance to the things we do- the chronic allergies and infections, the psych issues, PANDAS, chronic fatigue, etc etc etc. It definitely IS full-circle.
sf_mom Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 I one thing that really stands out about Alix is she suffered for so long.... 4 years in bed and now look what she has done. I look forward to being beyond the focus of getting the kids well and being healthy enough to give back in some way. By the way, you are my hero being DF,GF,SF household.... we are only at DF and working our way towards GF. You never know what 'positives' will come out of this experience. -Wendy
pixiesmommy Posted November 24, 2010 Author Report Posted November 24, 2010 We aren't dairy-free anymore since we found out that we are okay with raw dairy. We do a little bit of pasteurized goat dairy, but mostly raw cow dairy from a farm near us- warm from the source when we get it! Otherwise, I love being someone's hero
