Suzan Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) After 4 days on Nystatin, Diflucan, Questran, Plaquinil my brain fog and memory are much improved and my fatigue is much better too. I almost hate to start the abx! Could it really help so quickly? Maybe it's a placebo affect. I'm afraid to take the flagyl this weekend since LLMD said to try to get 3 days in. What will happen? Susan Glad you are feeling better! I can't comment on the flagyl, but I'm sure someone will chime in here. Mary
Suzan Posted November 10, 2010 Author Report Posted November 10, 2010 Glad you are feeling better! I can't comment on the flagyl, but I'm sure someone will chime in here. Mary Thanks Mary! I heard from someone who said the flagyl might make me herx almost immediately. I'll be prepared for that, I hope anyway. Ugh! Tonight, headache and backache but a nice clear head. That is nice. Susan
Familyof5 Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Hi Susan: The only meds you mentioned that I have taken is Questran. And wow, within three days, the brain fog that I felt for a year was gone. The memory was better too. The next things that disappeared for me were the numbness and tingling and the balance got better too! While I was on it, I remember the sharp shooting pains coming and going all over my body. Each time I felt them I would say "goodbye" toxins! Eventually I didn't feel them anymore. I love that stuff. You will probably herx from the questran, but stick with it. It is worth it! Good luck, keep us posted.
PacificMama Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Hi Susan, My daughter never took flagyl, but she did take tindamax as her cyst buster (2 days per week). These cyst busters definitely pack a punch for most people. At best, you could expect to feel extra fatigued. At worst, you would feel an exacerbation of symptoms, or new symptoms. And perhaps more "raw" feeling (sensitive, teary). Plan to get extra rest as best you can, and DETOX, DETOX, DETOX! I think that makes all the difference. It will get better and better each time. (and it may not happen the first weekend at all, but then kick in the second time). If you need more info on Flagyl, you could always try lymenet, where you would see about 8 billion posts on it. Good luck... just remember that it will all be worth it. Mary
NancyD Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Susan, It's so good to hear how much better you are feeling. That gives me hope, especially now! I will start a new post with an update but I think adding the cyst buster may change the way you feel (and not for the better). I did not understand what herxing was until we added in Tindamax! I look forward to your posts and hearing how you are doing. I get my test results back later this week -- I am hoping I won't be following in your shoes. Nancy

I have added the flagyl this weekend and although I have symptoms, it's not as bad as I expected (KNOCK ON WOOD). I have migratory pain and tired again and crazy weird dreams. I will be glad to stop it tomorrow and hopefully my totally clear head will come back! This week I continue to increase my stage 1 medications. I should be up to full dose in 1-2 weeks. Good luck with your test results too. I look forward to hearing them. I never would have thought at the beginning of the pandas journey that I would end up diagnosed with lyme too! Susan
NancyD Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Susan, I will keep my fingers crossed that the flagyl does not make things any worse. I'm glad to hear your first dose went alright. I know, I never imagined in a million years that we would be dealing with LD on top of PANDAS. Or that I might be facing it too. Let's hope my test comes out negative and that all I'm feeling is old age and sympathy pains! Nancy Thanks Nancy!
