trademein Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 on 10/25 my dd changed into her old self in the matter of hours. she went to school and when i picked her up she was FINE. this still continues today. She had one Meltdown but I think that was due to a red slurpie from 7- 11. I am not sure what to think or how to handle this. Is this normal in PANDAS kids. I am new to this. any thoughts would be great. Thanks.
peglem Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Don't know about normal, but pretty awesome!! Was that w/ or w/o treatment? How long had she been "out of it"?
T_Mom Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 With Peglem I too wonder what treatments are you using? With my older d, the effects of antibiotics (initially--with the first couple of exacerbations) were really evident. Typically within 48 hours we would see a decrease in symptoms. It was wonderful.
trademein Posted November 1, 2010 Author Report Posted November 1, 2010 She is on Pen V K 250 mg bid. If she is in close contact with someone with strep then we up the dose to 2 pills 3 times a day for 10 days. Her Aunt who is also her sitter was + strep on 10/13 so we up the dose. I saw a dramatic change in my daughter on 10\25. Tics better but not gone. She was able to function on her own. We had a few small meltdowns but not bad. It seems when we do up the dose of Pen V K we do see improvment but not this much. I also stopped giving her ibprofen because I felt she really didn't neeed it. She is also on Celexa 20 mg daily. I really don't know what to think about her improvement. I am greatful but scared also. Does this happen in PANDAS kids? She is very hyper and can not focus to well though. While in a Pandas exacerbation she is not hyper but still cant focus on one thing for to long.I am at a loss. We are seeing an Rheumatologist tomorrrow. To be honest not sure what she can do? But the ID said go so we are.
