KeithandElizabeth Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Hello: My children are still fighting the Babesia. Our LLMD feels that this parasite is the hardest coinfection to treat. My daughter has been on Mepron for 7 1/2 months and our son has only been on it for 4 months. They also take all of the alternative Babesia treatments such as Artemisinin and the Nutramatrix herbs. I am wondering if anyone else here has dealt with Babesia and gotten rid of it? Elizabeth
PacificMama Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Hi Elizabeth, No babesia for us that we ever knew of or treated. I just wanted to say hang in there... I too have heard that it is one of the tougher infections. But you will get there! I do believe that lymemom dealt with babesia, so hopefully she will chime in here. Mary
sf_mom Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 I just read last night that Babesia growth cycle is 2 to 3 weeks and Lyme is 3 to 4. We know our younger son has babesia. Our older son flaired days 10 - 14, 30 - 32, 38 - 39 post starting Alinia so I am sure they are thinking either Bartonella or Babesia for him as well. I know Dr. H is hitting our younger son really hard with 3 antibiotics due to Bebesia. Day one started yesterday and I am anxious due the warning of increase symptoms anticipated. It going to be a long year or two.

Elizabeth They believe I had it and after four months of Mepron which caused the worst herxes I ever got with lyme/babesia/bartonella. The fatigue was my worst symptom and after the first five days of mepron I could barely stay awake. I felt so wiped out. But I kept taking a break and then going back on it and finally it worked. I had to be retreated later on in my lyme treatment and my doctor used plaquenol (sp?) and then something else. Of course it is so hard to know if it was babesia it killed or lyme or something else but I feel great now.
matis_mom Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 but I feel great now. I need to keep hearing that Thanks! Sometimes all the stuff you read makes you fell like you'll NEVER be done. Good to hear you are DONE!
