matis_mom Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 I know there's been a million posts about different supplements on the PANDAS forum, but I'd like to start a thread that is more Lyme specific. So far, I've heard magnesium is very important, and maybe some kind of binding agent (charcoal, bentonite, chlorella), and maybe enzymes to help with biofilm. And of course, a good probiotic. Could others share their supplements? If you could include brand/dosage that would be great. I am having a hard time with the logistics of administering antibiotics, supplements, and probiotics to 8 kids, plus my own. There does not seem to be enough time in the day!

cobbiemommy Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 DS, 11, just had choline added to the mix by LLMD. This is to help the liver with detoxification. As the body starts killing off the microbes, the liver and kidneys are flooded with toxins that need to be excreted. Choline is supposed to help with that.
MichaelTampa Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 The ILADS website has treatment guidelines, written by Burrascano, and at the end he has a supplement regimen he recommends. By the time I read it, there were many I had already been taking, but there were still many that he listed that I had not considered, and I found a lot of good suggestions in there, although I found the recommended dosages to be far too high compared to what I needed.
albert07 Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Leave supplements and try some home remedies.Lyme disease can be prevented only by preventing yourself from tick bite. Whenever you are going to the grassy area, always cover your skin as much as possible. Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants tucked in your socks and hat. Also wear light colored clothes because it is easier to see them on light colored cloths. Also garlic is the super nutrient for fighting infection and viruses, as well as boosting your immune system. For more high powered support, you can take Olive Leave Extract, Oregano Oil, Silver solution, and Bilberry extract. Something that is helpful with Mono as well is taking Grapefruit Seed Extract, commonly referred to as GSE.

We are doing some herbal stuff already but it's getting to be confusing to keep it all straight! I don't know if you mentioned Mono because you read my other post somewhere else, but that is what my doc is considering at the moment so I'll keep the GSE in mind (we've used it before for other stuff).
