  1. It has been five days since my son recovered from the high fever. He is doing very well now. I can only see a few simple short head nodding now, not as severe and constant as before. Probably all my hard work for the past two months start to pay off. I can take him out without feeling nervous finally. I am so glad that life starts to be normal again. My husband continues to do massage, cupping and sometimes accupunture for him. I think bath with Epsom Salt also helps him with his sleeping.
  2. I know it sounds weird, but my son's tics decreased dramatically after a high fever last Friday. He couldn't stop nodding/shaking his head before that but now it only happens a few times every day. Is there anyone who has the same experience? Also if he has come to the ' Wane' period of his tics, how long will it last? I am overwhelmed by the improvement he has made. But also worried another 'wax' is waiting for him.
  3. hi, My son has started to take natural calm for about five days. I have increase the dosage from half a spoon to one spoon. But so far, I haven't seen any improvement. Does it mean the power does not work on him or should I give more time for it to work in his body? Thanks.
  4. hi, What you said is exactly what I wanted to say. IT seems we have so many in common except my son is eight. My son's tics got suddenly worse from May and his nature has changed ever since. He becomes even more sensitive, fearful and constantly worried. Has your son made improvement so far?
  5. Thanks, I will try. If indeed he has got strep infection, how long does he need to take antibiotics to see any improvement?
  6. hi, I am so glad that you son is doing well. I hope it will happen to my son as well. I will do the blood test as you suggested. By the way what antibiotics are your son taking? How long has he supposed to take it? Thanks.
  7. hi, That is so strange. Yesterday when I took him to cycling in the woods, his legs got a lump (either bitten or touch nettle leaves). I was worried to think it might worsen his tics. But to my surprise, he is a bit better today. Was that just coincidence? I don't know. His tics also broke out during the school test week in May. But I never think this test would give him any pressure since he always does very well at school. But I did push him to do some preparation for the test which may upset him.
  8. hi Derby, Thanks for the link. It might well be the cause of his sudden outbreak of tics. What check do I need to do next to see if it is strep or not? Thanks.
  9. hi Karen, Yes, I have booked a holiday and I will make full use of his summer break. But I am a bit worried if all the excitement and new enviornment will worsen his tics. Let's hope it won't happen. How is your son doing now? Has his head-shaking tic gone? Will it be replaced by something else? My son also stretch his right arm when he walks. He also hummed a lot for about two weeks and it seems now it slows down a bit. Thanks.
  10. Hi Faith, I think you make a point here. My son did eat a lot of sweets and junk food before his tics suddenly got worse. I have cleaned his diet now. He eats plenty of organic food and lots of fruits. I make him fruit salad every day which is basically a mixture of strawberry, blueberry, banana and apple. He loves it and it does help him to go to toilet regularlly. Thanks for you reply.
  11. hi danddd, Does you daughter have any other tics since she stopped shaking her head? I am curious what happens next. At the minute I am thinking anything is better than shaking head because it is so noticable and so scary. I sometimes wonder it might be seizure or something.
  12. My son starts to shake right from he wake up and some of the shaking can be dramatic. The only time he doesn't shake is when he play on the computer, have a bath and lie on bed. He likes me to hold around his shoulder so that he doesn't shake and once I let him go, he will start shaking instantly. The shaking does get worse when he is excited, upset and anxious.
  13. I shouldn't think so. You see we are an Asian family and use herbs to solve most problems. Whenever he was not feeling well, we normally gave him herbal medicine which will get rid of the symptoms no matter what virus cause it. So I never get him checked. He got sick quite often before age 5 and afterwards seems fine.
  14. yes, I will definitely investigate further about the rash he got before it broke out. Thanks. Do you know anybody who has the same symptoms? Is this usual for children to have a mad head-shaking tic? Thanks.
  15. Thanks for you prompt reply. I know one of my uncles do have chronic tics and he has still got it. But both I and my husband don't have tics. Neither my parents and my husband's parents. I guess extended family are counted as well. He has no allergy, no vaccine and hardly take any antibiotics ( except twice when he got toothache). He did have a few red lump and hives on its body for a few days before the tics flared up. He couldn't sleep well before he felt so itchy. That is the only thing a bit unusual, otherwise I can't see anything different. I have tried the epsom salt for his bath and still waiting for the natural calm supplement. I am living in uk, so I have to get the supplement shipped to me from USA which will take a few days. I do wish it can help. I also tried Tic Tamer, but it doesn't seem to work. So I stopped using it. Do you know how long this severe head shaking will last?
