  1. Is he ok now? Don't feel at all weird about taking him to a priest... my sister, whose daughter has exhibited very bizarre behavior, called upon a priest as well. When your child is no longer your child, and you feel that this incredibly strong rage-filled monster is in his/her place, of course those thoughts cross your mind...
  2. Hi there, My son has strep in the gut. It was found through a stool sample (a complete GI panel, I think that's what the test is called). They were treating him with Amoxicillin, then switched to Cefuroxime plus Vancomicin (it's supposed to clear the intestinal track, if I understand correctly) He is also on a ton of probiotics. This protocol plus removing tonsils and adenoids made a huge difference in his overall health (before he was tired all the time, had tummy aches, bowel problems, etc), but I did not see that it was helping much with the neurological symptoms (he is more the quiet, OCD type). Then we saw Dr. Latimer and she switched him to Augmentin 875 2xday, plus a 4-week steroid burst w/taper, which put him back to his old happy self. He relapsed due to exposure to strep, and now is on Augmentin XR 2xday. He is doing better overall, still reacts to strep, but not nearly as bad as before. So, I don't know for sure if the strep is gone from his gut, but he is better. We still have a long way to go but things are manageable. If you have any other questions, let me know. If you want to call me PM me and I'll send you my number. Isabel My daughter complains quite often of stomach pains.. Her tonsils have been removed last year, and were a mess. Her throat cultures have been coming back neg for strep recently, but she has been episodic since Jan. Are stomach pains any indication?
  3. Melanie What have you learned about the micoplasm relation to PANDAS? My daughter had a recent bout with it, had two rounds of Azythro.. and still her exposure numbers are high. She has been episodic since January, calmed a bit by Augmentin, but complaining every day of a stomach ache. She has a fever currently, has dark circles, and looks very pale. Our local pediatrician doesn't see any more need for more Azith. I beg to differ. Just wondering about that micoplasm relation. Thank you!
  4. I have just joined forum - hope you get this message My 7 year old daughter has similar rage fits, and has become increasingly violent, especially with me (her Mom). I often use my Mom as a crutch, either to take my 3 year old daughter away or to take my symptomatic child. We have all felt that fear of not being able to handle this anymore.. Does your child take antibx? Mine just began a course of 600mg Augmentin twice daily. No drastic results, though I understand it can take months. I feel your pain, and I cry with you. Good luck to you and your family.
