Has anyone had a non response from a steroid treatment? We are on step down and symptoms are as strong as ever.

Hi Group We are suffering with worse symptoms more violence and suicidal talk. If anyone can offer a pediatrician, DAN doctor, Immunology Spec., willing to give ivig near philly. We saw a specialist in NJ (near ny), but since the visit last week, we have been unable to get a return call since my dd9's symptoms have worsened. (I realize its the holidays but we are so afraid she will hurt herself.) Another worry is that if we take her to a local hospital in one of her acute episodes, that they will want to drug her, or have her "put somewhere" if she is deemed to be a "danger to herself". We just feel like we can't leave her alone. I am trying to find someone who will be aggressive an give her an ivig.

My Husband & I tried to get an appointment this past Thursday because we are too in an acute recurrance with violent thoughts. (Hurting herself). Dr. L's office said she was not accepting new patients and put us on a waiting list. Dr. K returned my email within 2 Hours. My dd9 also has not had a bad recurrance since the initial episode in 07. Prayers to you.

Hi, yes, I was on Omnicef 300 (brandname) for several months (March-June) last year. I definitely noticed improvement with it, but had to switch to another antibiotic after a small blip in June that Omnicef didn't fix for me. Thank you for the info.

We are still struggling with our dd9 after the ER visit yesterday. Has anyone had experience with Cefdinir being prescribed for their PANDAS child?

Our Daughter has had what we suspect to be pandas since 07. The "kidsfirst" doctors have been fine with strep tests and the abx. We have been unable to get into chop to see the Dr. Elia and Dr. Latimer is not taking new patients. Our recent recurrance started about 6 weeks ago and we have had a course of augm. and weekly cog beh therapy for intrusive worry thoughts. Now we have suicidal thoughts and scratching, pinching and hurting herself. This prompted us to go to er at chop phila. Let me just share that chop made me feel like an idiot. The initial nurse at the er was sweet the "learning doctor" looked irritated and annoyed as i tried to explain pandas and wouldn't make eye contact. the attending peditrician basically said that I shouldn't be fooled by doctors who think they can help my kid. (I gave her a print out from Dr. K's Website) They take money from parents who can barely afford to eat. So was she saying that Dr. K is bamboozling people? That all of his case studies are not valid? How insulting. The Pychiatric Doctor "Lam" said that the infectious disease doctors at chop aren't on board with pandas, so they don't support treatments like ivig. I left after 7 hours feeling horrible. They did say that Dr. Elia would fit us in in the next couple of weeks. Where do we go from here? Dr. K. said he will do a phone consult and he was so prompt in answering my email! Should we just try to go to illinois and get an ivig? What is the pattern of treatment that most follow and if anyone can suggest, pediatric docs or other specialists in philly we should see it would be greatly appreciated. Hi all, I am new to the forum. We have been dealing with pandas and untrained, unknowledgable doctors in the philadelphia area since 2007. After 3 rounds of strep, 2 psychologists (one at chopp) they still only thought it might be pandas. Her symptom let up after about 8 months though not completely. Now we are past the explosive panick attacks, but dealing with the others. Her ped at kids first haverford, have no clue again and have referred us to Dr. Elia at chopp who won't return our calls. Looking for help and a path. I feel like all the stuff on the web points to this ivig before 10 to prevent permanent damage. Worried Mom
