  1. Andy, Thanks! It'll be very helpful. When I checked the metal-free website, it sounds a good one to use. Especially it'll dump metals into bowl, so it won't overload kidney function. Spring
  2. Hi Robing, So sorry to hear about your son's current situation. As my understand, DAN doctor can help ADD/ADHD, and maybe tics (to reduce them if not eliminate). How old is your son? I hope it's just a temp. situation. Jean
  3. We had a visit to our DAN doctor yesterday. We're told that metal-free becomes part of DAN protocol for removing heavy metals. Has anyone had the experience with it? Per my DAN doctor, metal-free is a natural chelating agent. It can remove several metals at the same time and dump them into bowl. Therefore, during the treatment, bowl heavy metal level will be monitored. Here is the link to the metal-free: http://www.metalfree.com/
  4. Hi Daniel, Due to my son’s nutrition deficiencies, he’s currently taking Vit. C powder (buffered with cal/mag), E, Selenium, Mol, P5P, B1, Folic Acid. There’re more to be added on, but we have to take a slow process as my son almost reacts to each new supplement. My son has asthma and allergy. He’s been on allergy and asthma medicine since he’s 2. Now he’s no longer taking them. He takes Querceton for his allergy. It works fine for him: http://www.myvits.com/products/proddesc.as...nk=productlist% If it’s possible, you may want to run some tests before adding supplements. Most of supplements that my son takes are in high dosage, it'll be save to under a doctor's guidence. Jean
  5. Hi Daniel, Like your son, my son has allergy to many stuffs. We believe that he has allergy reactions to the lotion (i.e., stuffing nose, rashes, bedwetting, tic increasing). We’ve tried 3 times but stopped 3 times. He’s not on the lotion currently as our DAN doctor asked us to wait after other supplements. However, Andy’s, Claire’s and Jennifier’s (?) sons have been using it. Per Claire, the lotion form helped to raise his son’s glutathione level, but not oral supplement.
  6. Hi quan_daniel, Here is a quick overview of my son’s history. He started his tics (not TS) about 2 years ago (at age 7). We found out TV/flashes/Computers are his big triggers. He’s been avoided his triggers since then. He had heavy metal hair analysis that time, and it came out negative. Meanwhile, he’s under naturopathic treatment (with homeopathic remedies) for a year. His symptoms were under control then. In the beginning of this year, his tics were triggered GREATLY by an astronomy show that heavily involved flashes, lightings, and fast moving actions. The homeopathic remedies didn’t seem to work effectively as they used to be. He got more sensitive to lights, electronic games, TV, etc. After we read Claire’s posting, we decided to see a DAN doctor. He had Spectracell blood test (for vitamin deficiencies) and Great Smokies blood test elemental analysis (for heavy metals) in February of this year. The lab test showed he’s high on mercury, cadmium, antimony, low antioxidant level, low glutathione, and quite few nutrition deficiencies. Our DAN doctor wanted to correct my son’s nutrition deficiency first before going through the chelating. He said for some kids, once the deficiencies are corrected, and the antioxidant level is raised, the metals may be removed as well. My son started the treatment in March. Although we had difficult time to start with each new supplement, we’ve seen some progress after 2 months. Currently his tics are very mild (or almost disappear). He watched TV 5 times at school (each time for ½ - 1 hr) in the past two weeks. Although he said that he rolled his eyes in the begining of the program, we didn’t notice the difference afterwards. We believe this is just the beginning…. We’ll be more interested in seeing his next test results. I suggest reading the following thread. I learned a lot from there. My DAN doctor uses the same protocol to treat my son currently: http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?...t%20doctor&st=0 Re: natural chelating - as my understanding, Selenium, C, E, and Glutathione remove the metals. Jean
  7. Hi Andy, Thanks for the sharing! So glad to hear the good news. I hope he'll have further improvement with the current treatment. I believe that heavy metal toxcity plays a big role in our kids' problem. In February, my son's lab report showed that he's high on mercury, cadmium and antimony. We took the "nature chelating(??)" - Using vitamins and other supplements - the same protocol as Clare's. My son has been on the supplements for about 2 months, his toluene to TV seems improved. His tics are very mild (or not show in some days). He probably will have a follow up test in a month, and we’ll see what his heavy metal level will be… Jean
  8. Hi Marie, Re: tic with TV. This is great news to hear. I would think this is positive result of the supplements and juice therapy.
  9. Hi Robin, So sorry to your son’s head shaking tics. Will you consider massage or chiropractic treatment to help him for temporally soothing? For L-carnitine, my son couldn’t handle it. It actually increased his tics. Jean
  10. Hi crabbywun, Welcome to the board! The following books helped me a lot (might as well for some members here): 1). Children with starving brain - by Dr. McCandless Per our DAN doctor, TIC falls into autism spectrum disorder although the book doesn't mention tic. You may get the book from Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...072659?v=glance 2). Is this your child - by Dr. Rapp Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/068...0830247-6072659 Also, you may want to use "Add Reply" button to post your message. This way, only your message will be posted. Hope this helps! Jean
  11. I read this from yahoo enzymes board. The following link has extremely good explanation of functions and what supplements help each of the functions and why. http://www.aspartame-detox.info/detoxification.html Jean
  12. Hi Efgh, Sorry to hear about your son’s asthma. My son’s asthma is under control. In fact, he’s been off his asthma and allergy meds since last year. On the other hand, he still has noticeable tics (although they're almost gone last year for 4 months). That led us to take him to see a new DAN doctor this year. As I posted on the other threads, in February, his blood test showed that he has heavy metals (mercury, cadmium and antimony). He’s currently on “natural chelation†process (using supplements). During this time period, he almost reacted to each single new supplement that he’s taking. In order to avoid confusion, I have not re-introduce dairy and TV at this moment. Regarding your son’s asthma, I suspect it could be triggered by allergy due to the season. I don’t remember if your son has environmental allergy. If so, besides food restriction, you may want to check your home environment. Hyper filter helps for my son. He’s also taking Quercetone from Thorne for his allergy. Jean
  13. To all mothers here (fathers' will come soon..): http://cards.free-egreetings.net/cgi-bin/n...igimagetype=new Claire, Greate to hear your son's further improvement! Jean
  14. Like Frank’s son, the flax seed oil will set my son off. I have tried 3 times with no luck. Both our ND and DAN doctors don’t recommend the flax seed oil, although I understand it works for some people here.
  15. Hi Mari, As Claire mentioned, my son seems sensitive to most of supplements except Vitamin C and E. B-complex and fish oil will set him off. I had to start with very low dosage initially. Currently, we are having difficult time to supplement the Glutathione lotion. I suggest not giving all the supplement at the same time. You may want to introduce one at a time with minimum dose as Cheri noted. If there is any reaction, you can easily rule out the possible causes. As a side note (re: fish), you need to be cautions about types of fish to eat, i.e., make sure not to eat those with mercury contaminated. Jean
  16. Hi Andy, Thanks for the sharing! This is such a good news to hear, and it's also very encourage to us. I wish you and your son the best on his 3rd IV treatment. God bless! Jean
  17. Hi NewTSMom, Glutathione is the antioxidant and it’s very important to detoxification. I supplement it because my son has glutathione deficiency based on his lab test. Besides, he has elevated level of heavy metals (i.e., mercury, cadmium). Glutathione can be supplemented by either oral intake or skin (lotion). It appeared that applying through skin is more efficient. Here is the detail information about the glutathione: http://www.prozactruth.com/gluta.htm http://www.thorne.com/altmedrev/fulltext/glut.html Jean
  18. Our ND recommends the whey protein. She said it's a good one. Besides, there are different flavors (vanilla and chocolate). Children will love it. However, I noticed there is copper in it. Therefore, I didn't give it to my son. Jean
  19. I would like to share this information with you: My son has been using the Kirkman lab glutathione lotion for about a week. I applied the lotion on his feet once a day at night with one gram (one level scoop using the enclosed measure). After 3 days, he has some reactions to it: - tic increasing - stuffing nose: one night he couldn't even breath - bed wetting: he hasn't had it for a long time - skin rash: it occurred on the area without using lotion As of now, we're not sure if they're adverse reactions or allergy reactions. I stopped the lotion couple days ago. The night I stopped it, his nose congestion's better and he didn't wet his bed for 2 nights already. Our DAN doctor also suggested us to stop using it for a week, and reintroduce it back with smaller dosage.
  20. Hi Maria, Thanks for the information! Would you mind to share the details on how you make your veggie juice? Thanks! Jean
  21. Hi Sherry, One of the lessons that I have learned is not to give all new stuff at the same time. You may want to stop everything and reintroduce them one at a time, i.e., introducing a new one every 3 to 4 days, and start with low dosage and gradually increase the dosage if there is no symptom increasing. For my son, flax seed oil was the one set him off. But, as you know, each person is different. You may get DAN doctor information from Sheila Rogers' post on the top of this forum. I also included the link below: http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?...p?showtopic=565 Jean
  22. Hi Dora, I'm glad that your son is getting better. This is a wonderful message. When I was reading your post, it's like seeing myself from the mirror. It's good that you also take care of yourself. Thank you for the sharing! Jean
  23. Hi Karen, I would recommand Dr. McCandless's book "Children with starving brains" - a medical treatment guide for autism spectrum disorder. You may get the book from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/188...0830247-6072659 The book gives wealthy information on what to look for, where to start, etc. Although the book is maily for autisum, it's believed that tic disorder falls into the same spectrum. I learned a lot from the book. Hope you'll find it helpful as well.
  24. Hi Efgh, Yes. I realized that I can edit my post if I post as an registered user. My son is not doing very well. So we have to step back for a little. I'll keep you updated if there is anything new. Jean
  25. Hi Andy, You may get Glutathione cream from Kirkman lab. It doesn't require Doctor's prescription. Here is the link. You may order it from online. http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/cgi-bin/hse/Hom...ream#firstmatch Jean ps: Thanks for the information!
