About Me

In 1998, my husband and I rushed our 11-month-old baby girl, Shannon, to the hospital. Her pediatrician sent us after seeing Shannon's eyes literally dancing. She was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and a rare autoimmune disorder, Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome (OMS).

Shannon was treated for neuroblastoma and OMS for 3 years using daily injections of ACTH. She was in remission from age 3 to age 8 and came out of remission. She is considered chronic oms now. OMS docs now believe oms is now neuroinflammation and not caused by B and T cells issues. They believe the cytokines may be the issue activating microglia in the brain.

I was referred to this page by a fellow mom of a chronic omser to see if any relief can be found through PANDAS treatment. Shannon had her tonsils removed due to many instances of strep. However, she was tested for PANDAS in 2008 via bloodwork and it was negative.

I have my own business where I work with children with learning disabilities and ADHD because the most devastating impact of OMS has been Shannon's learning challenges. I was able to find a way for her to learn again and keep improving. I began helping other families whose children were also struggling begin their journey to help their child improve in reading and learning.

I wrote a chapter on Shannon's journey (prior to relapse) in a best-selling anthology Overcomer's, Inc.[/url]
