cobbiemommy Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 DS, 11, was diagnosed on 8/23 with Lyme disease. He had IVIg on 7/8 and 7/9 for Pandas. I feel like we are right back where we started before the IVIg. He is back to being rigid, clingy, inflexible thinking, with OCD symptoms. I emailed Dr. K with questions, but I am just so lost and sad about all this. How soon should we see improvement, son is taking Zith and Augmentin for Lyme and Bartonella. I want improvement and I want it now!!! ha....
justinekno Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 We are on the same regimen for Lyme although we have not done IVIG. We saw improvement after about a week on the antibiotics. We then had some herxing and then regression about three weeks after we first started the antibiotics. We are now starting to see improvement again. What a rollercoaster this is. sf_mom Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) Children with Lyme Disease typically see improvement by week 12. Our LLMD said the average child takes two years to see full/complete recovery. Of course this all depends on co-infections, the strength of your child's immune system, etc. and how aggressive your Lyme Dr. is treating your child. For example some will use a cyst buster only on the weekends for months and some will use it daily for a shorter period of time. Prepare yourself for the long haul but I can assure you... you'll gain confidence as your child continues to improve. We've been treating our son for PANDAS/Lyme now for 13 months, we just had a huge herxing response when we began the Alinia about one month ago but he is trending back towards full remission of symptoms. I'd like to think we'll finish treatment prior to next year this time (no antibiotics) but who knows..... Believe me I understand your desire to see improvement. It will happen. Hang in there. -Wendy P.S. We just started our twins 10 days ago on new antibiotic regimen... It has been really rough on both but my DD is definitely having a harder time. Thankfully, we will be meeting with our Dr this week to specifically discuss her reaction to the change. Edited September 12, 2010 by SF Mom

Funny, after I typed this last night, we sat down and played Life with a friend and he was wonderful. Go figure.
justinekno Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) In my opinion, anyone who can sit down and play Life and be happy, must be feeling better.
