SHould we go dairy free again?

Guest Guest

Recommended Posts

Our new allergy test showed that my son has a delayed allergiic response to .

dairy. However, a couple of years ago we took him off all dairy for 3 ms. We saw nothing, I was very strict about his diet too, during this time.

I'm wondering if we should even go this route again...He has been through so many diets, taking him off this or that. and so far nothing....

We've done a wheat free diet. caseine-free, no sugar you name it!

I 'm about ready to give up and just stick to the meds.

What do you think???

Kids can develop allergies over time. So what wasn't an issue two years ago, may be an issue now e.g. milk.

I would try it for 2 weeks. Check out the food sensitivity thread...most saw improvement in a week. Was he positive for other foods?

Have you read the other threads--for some, diet change isn't enough. Have you tried supplements, the no screens test for a week, air filters....

I think 80% of those who continue to post and work on this have seen improvement over time. (I can't account for those who post once or twice and disappear--no feedback). That is an awesome success rate.

I don't think that diet change was the complete solution for anyone--it took more--except for Jeff's family, and for them it was the elimination of artificial ingredients.

Meds can create many more problems that are far worse than tics--as hard as that is to believe.

Hang in there!

Thanks Claire. We did do the testing for artificial ingredients, with no allergy showing up,

We have tried alot of supplments, Bonnies, vitamin and minerals, wiht not success. I feel like we have not found the right combination.... I have tried so many different things that I am going in circles.

I have read that the vitamin B either 6 or 12 is good. My son is 11 and weighs about 74 pounds.

I was thinking about trying the Juice Plus.

Do you know anything about Juice plus?

Thanks

I don't know re juice plus.

We did testing testing and more testing (e.g. pyroluria, vitamin deficiencies, yeast, metals, omega 3's...) before we started treatment--though a DAN/EM doctor on the list above. This allowed us to focus our program.

Did your doctor run other tests, such as pyroluria or elevated mercury? Glad to hear the food test was so thorough.

And I have to ask: Have you tried no screens?

B6 and B12 are good, but just part of a program, as I am sure you know.

As I have posted before on this board, my son had casein/milk issues too---which resulted in poor milk digestion and he had calcium deficiencies. Calcium is important also (along with zinc and magnesium).

I think Jean was using Juice plus. If she logs in , you can get a lot of information on this.

How many of you have used Zinc Gluconate as a zinc supplement?

Claire, which form of Zinc do you give your son? What about others?

thanks.

Clair/Efgh,

Happy New Year! How are your sons doing? Hope you all are well.

Yes, my son is taking Juice plus fruit and veggie currently. In fact both my husband and I are taking them too as our ND highly recommended them. She considered they are good antioxidant.

You may get more information from the following site:

Happy new year to all of you. My son is doing ok but I suddenly noticed a marginal rise in his vocal tics. (dont know if its due to the 'holidays season' or due to 'more TV watching in the holidays'.

oterwise he is fine and composed. Jean, how is your son doing? Is he still on the supplements? How are his tics and asthma now?

Pfeiffer recommends zinc picolinate, and our DAN doctor likes a combo of zinc picolinate and zinc citrate, so I do about 2/3 zinc picolinate and 1/3 zinc citrate. For the lozenges for colds, we do zinc gluconate.

I hope your son's vocal tics subside again with the return to school, good luck.

Jean,

I checked out juice plus, but couldn't find an ingredient list anywhere on that site. Whole Foods for example had a juice powder that tasted good (they had samples), but it had some grain with gluten in it (I can't remember what), or I would have bought it. I think it was oats (cross contaminated with wheat these days) or Brewer's yeast.

Do you have an ingredients list? We just juice carrots, and broccoli. And buy raw berries when it is affordable, for the antioxidants. I wouldn't mind more variety. How is the taste?

How are you feeling about the allergy/energy methods? I think we are going with the zinc promotion then MT promotion route. We use enzymes (DDPIV) so he gets cheese and seems to be okay with it. But not wheat or straight milk.

I don't know about you all, but what a restful vacation. We didn't travel (for once) and this felt like a truly restful break!

Any New Year's resolutions? Mine this year focus more on me--getting enough sleep and exercise. I think I am a better mother/wife when I do since I feel better. As always, it is squeezing this in after work and taking care of family. Though if I am lucky, this year will involve less research--I feel we are on track.

Claire and Efgh,

My son's tics are under control as long as he avoids triggers. He still has no TV and e-games since we don't think it's the time yet (we tried couple times though). We just got back from our ski trip. He had great time with his friends there. My son is still under NAET treatment. I'm still hesitate to make any conclusion yet. However, he's been off from his allergy/asthma medicines for 3 months. He's taking Quercetone currently. Per our ND, Quercetone is natural antihistamine. This year, we decided not to give him flu shot after he had it for 4 years. He is taking muco coccinum 1 tablet/week instead. Winter time is always a challenge for us. We continue to pray for our son's health issue. When we look back, GOD answered many of our prayers. My very best wish to all of our children's' health well being.

Regarding Juice Plus, there are different kinds. We are taking the Juice Plus fruits and veggies. They are capsules. My son doesn't like capsules. So I take the powder out of the capsule and dissolve it in small amount of the water. He doesn't complain it. I tasted it once, it's ok. Here are the ingredients:

Juice Plus fruits:

Fruit juice powder and pulp from apple, orange, pineapple, cranberry, peach, acerola cherry and papaya, gelatin, bromelain, papain, lipase, amylase, protease and cellulase, apple pectin, citrus pectin, date fiber, prune powder , glucomannan, citrus bioflavonoids, dried plant fiber, Lactobacillus acidophillu, vegetaable derived magnesium sterate, anthocyanins, polyphenol catechins, dunallella salina, indole carinols.

Juice plus veggie:

Vegetable juice powder and pulp from carrots, parsley, beets, kale, broccoli, cabbage, spinach, and tomato; gleatin, lipase, amylase, protease, cellulase; beet fiber, barley bran, oat bran, cabbage fiber, glucomannan, plant cellulose, dried plant fiber, Lactobacillus acidophillu, vegetaable derived magnesium sterate, anthocyanins, polyphenol catechins, dunallella salina, indole carinols.

Hope this helps!

Jean

Hi Efgh,

His triggers are the same as before, i.e., TV, e-games, and emotional changes including stress, sadness, anticipation and excitement. Emotional part is hard to work with. He also avoids certain food such as dairy, tomatoes, eggs and artificial ingredients. However, lately we started to gradually introduce milk and eggs once or twice a week but not on regular base. Meanwhile, he’s still taking homeopathic remedies, p5p, fish oil and primrose oil.
