Nystatin

Has anyone experienced an adverse reaction to Nystatin? My daughter has been taking it for about three months now and suddenly she has thrown up two nights in a row after taking. It's not the stomach flu because she was fine as soon as she got it out of her. Now a week later it is happening again. She feels really sick but has been able to keep it down ...so far. I am waiting for a call back from our doctor but wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks.

No, but capryllic acid made my son very nauseous, and as you know, it is an antifungal also.

After 3 months, it is quite odd, but maybe she developed an allergy to it? Is hers a liquid? Ours is, and it has artificial color in it unfortunately--maybe she is reacting to that? I had to pick the lessor of evils, and am glad he is done with it.

We are retesting next week to see if it made a dent.

Actually, it is the tablet form of Nystatin. Originally, we had a liquid made up by a compounding pharmacy that was free of everything but tasted horrible. She does also take capryllic acid in a liquid form. That doesn't seem to bother her. I personally tried Candex and felt horrible so I guess it's tough to say. I also retested her for yeast and am waiting for results. She never showed yeast in the stool sample but because of her high arabinose the doctor is treating her for yeast. We're just going through a rough spot and it's hard to tell what is triggering it. I finally bribed her to try one week of no screens after Winter Break is over. I found an intersting link dating back to the Pokemon craze and the Game Boy insert that actually warns against side effects from Game Boy.
