momcap Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Is Dr. Cunningham's lab the only one that tests for CaM kinase II? Any other labs doing this test? How do I get this test for my son?
kimballot Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 Is Dr. Cunningham's lab the only one that tests for CaM kinase II? Any other labs doing this test? How do I get this test for my son? Here is some info. on Dr. Cunningham and the test - Dr. Cunningham's email is at the bottom. http://www.pandasresourcenetwork.com/research-programs.html Right now she is asking families to reimburse for the cost of the test, which is $400. If you contact her, she will have a kit sent out to you and you need to find a local lab to draw the blood. Ask them to spin the blood if they can and send it out with an ice pack in the box. Have it drawn on a Monday or Tuesday so it gets to the lab before Saturday! This is not an FDA approved test for PANDAS - it is still in the research stages. If you son is in an exacerbation you might want to do it. I would not do it if my child was not in an exacerbation as it is less likely to show antibodies in the PANDAS range.
