kimballot Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I know several people have posted comments on DrMDK's video on PANDAS by Dr. Pavalakis. While Dr. Pavalakis may be a good neurologist, the video on PANDAS was outdated, uninformative, and unhelpful., and many parents have pointed that out to DrMDK. It seems that DrMDK has listened to everyone's complaints. As noted in a previous post, he started posting videos of interviews with Dr. Susan Schulman, who is reported to have treated many PANDAS cases as a primary pediatrican. I just watched all of her videos and I have to say that I am impressed with this updated info. (she even talked about the NIMH meeting and the new IVIG study that is underway in one of the videos). DrMDK also put together a PANDAS page that has Dr. Schulman's videos and other related (non PANDAS) videos, like ones on ADHD, Tourette, OCD, and strep. Check it out at http://drmdk.com/html/pandas.html And.... if you like what you see.... please thank DrMDK for listening.
saidie10 Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 interesting! thanks for sharing. i started watching one of the videos and need to watch them all when i have more time!
Kayanne Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 This is really great....on you tube, should we pick a specific video in the series to leave our comments on? I think I watched the whole series, and there were three things that Dr. Susan Schulman said that I really liked: “In the early onset, rapid onset child… I think you have to prove that it’s not PANDAS before you give up and call it a regular OCD.” “...by the way, it does come up in siblings, it's not rare at all to see it in siblings.” “The mildest form of PANDAS actually is irritability. The symptoms of PANDAS range from easily crying, very angry, not happy, not satisfied, irritable, fighting with his siblings, not satisfied with anything the parents give, restlessness...that is the mildest, most common symptom.” She also mentions that she has seen cases where there is no proof of infection...just exposure to strep can set it off.
kimballot Posted August 24, 2010 Author Report Posted August 24, 2010 Thanks for the post, Kayanne - I realized now that you were the person who had posted about this last week - which is what prompted me to go in and look around! Dr. MDK seems very interested in helping to move the PANDAS diagnosis forward. I sent him a PM thanking him and he wrote back asking me what other issues we'd like to see covered. He relayed that he once treated a child with PANDAS who did well with treatments and he understands the need for this information to be made available to the public. I think folks can PM Dr. MDK directly if they want to comment. they can also "vote" on individual videos and leave comments on individual videos. I am not sure exactly how the google search stuff works, but I would think the more hits the page gets, the more likely it is to come up when someone googles PANDAS and strep.
Kayanne Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I sent him a pm thru you tube thanking him, and he sent me to his PANDAS page too...I think he just added the links to the PANDAS Network, PANDAS Resource Network, and the PANDAS Foundation -- because I didn't see them yesterday!
amy s Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 This is a wonderful page! I will let them know how I feel!!! Thanks for posting it here!

I just wanted to add that the video with Dr. Pavalakis saying PANDAS probably doesn't exist is NOT on this PANDAS page! YEAH!!! -- although, it is still on DrMDK's youtube channel.
