mandyknowles Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 Well, my daughter finally went back to school today. I went to every class with her and sat and watched her. This is the first time she has been to school since september of 2009. It was great to see her with all her friends again; it was like she never missed a beat! Then came the class after lunch...She had at least 5 chest spasms and stopped breathing in this class...I am kind of thinking that the whole day is too much. So, we may switch off and go morning one day and afternoon the next and alternate; At least until next week when we go to IVIG..I am sooo hoping this helps her with these symptoms. We are starting paperwork on her IEP friday morning, because of her health reasons, and they told me she would be able to stay in her regular classes, they would just modify her work if needed. So, all in all we had a good experience today, but like i said just trying to decide what to do on all day or half day...
thereishope Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I'm happy to hear school went well!!!!!!!!! Does your daughter do better with routine and knowing what to expect? If so, would you consider switching morning/afternoon by quarters or semesters so she's not lost in the class if they continue a discussion from the previous day? Just a thought...

You know, I hadn;t thought of that, but it kinda makes sense to do it like that. It would make it easier for her and me as well..Thanks for the thought!
KeithandElizabeth Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Mandy: I am so sorry for the pain you have gone through. The chest spasms and the fact that she stops breathing sounds so scary. I am happy though that she was able to attend school for the first time in a long time. My son will be restarting school again this fall after being out for a year. Good luck with the IVIG next week. Elizabeth
