Mary from Michigan Mary - this is a very interesting article and I love qualitative studies because they really show you what the people are experiencing. Hey - any graduate students who may be checking this site... we are a GREAT group to use to conduct online qualitative research!! We may not all be able to get to the same room, but we could all go into the same online webspace and answer questions in a focus group!!

Kim, The full content of the article (which I have in print but can't seem to get online) contains the focus group questions. So is it plaigerism to simply post them to the forum and collect the answers? I am emailing the researcher right now to see if they'd like to design the same questions for us.

It is not plagiarism to use the same questions in a follow-up research study, as long as you are citing and giving credit to the original source. However, you cannot do a research study without approval from some type of review board (colleges/ universities/ medical instututions all have review boards). That is how human subjects rights are protected (like having a consent form and keeping names confidential and all). This would really be a very good project for a graduate student - maybe someone in one of the social sciences, like social work or pychology, or OT , or education. I don't think you can legally publicly post the article - but if you got it off the internet, you could post the link. OOPS! I just modified this post - I almost forgot to mention that any reserch done on this forum would need Shiela's permission- Thanks Edited July 30, 2010 by kimballot
