becjonz Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I am still constantly amazed by how awesome this site is and the parents are incredible. I posted a few days ago about my son's blood work only to find out what the results meant. I had not heard from doctors at all. Thanks to Buster who told me my son had had the wrong blood test I was able to call the doctor's office and knowledgeably explain to them what test was done, why it was wrong and what order we needed. The order was faxed to the hospital, we went for blood work and I was sure to question the tech about the test. THE WRONG TEST WAS ORDERED AGAIN! Thankfully she caught it and knew what they meant and so was willing to do antiDNAse B test but yikes my son almost needed blood drawn 3 times in order to get it right! If not for this board I wouldn't even have had the knowledge to get things straightened out for my DS. It is amazing how the real knowledge and education behind PANDAS is parents.
thereishope Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 This forum is a blessing. Not a day has gone by that I have not popped on it since I joined it. As a parent, you really have no know your stuff so it comes out naturally when you speak to a doctor, you are confident in what you say, and you don't get home just say 'shoot. I forgot to say that!'. There's need to be a PARENT run conference where doctors learn from the parents:)
MomWithOCDSon Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I will third that motion! Irrespective of the growing list of PANDAS resources in recent years, were it not for all of you here, there'd be a very long list of things about which I would remain ignorant today! Not to mention the value in sharing, laughing, tearing up, and howling in frustration alongside a group of wonderful people who know, almost on the sub-atomic level, what you're going through!! Thanks everybody! Don't say it often enough, so thanks to you, becjonz, for presenting a fresh opportunity!
