Guest Guest
Anything that stresses my son's body will cause the tics to appear. We had his blood tested and we based his diet on that. His blood tests showed that certain foods were not broken down by his body and in effect became like a posion to his system. We also had tests to see what his body needs and is not getting. That is how we based his vitamins, minerals, and amino acids on. My son still tics slightly when he is tired. The late afternoon early evening is when we see most of that. Additional sleep takes care of that. Basically he needs to take a nap at least two times a week but he doesn't always go along with that. Colds will cause ticing. The worse the illness, the more severe the tic. We hate fevers. As for the T.V./computer stuff, Claire's posts got me thinking and the first time we ever did see the tics was when he was 3 and he was watching T.V. as he was getting over an illness. We replaced the computer programs which he loved with "LeapPad". I find that their educational effectfullness is better and more enjoyable then the computer programs for my oldest child. As for T.V., it is just not on when the kids are up or when my oldest is at home and when it is on he gets no more then 1/2 hr at a time and it is usually a tape so there is no wasted commerical time. As others have posted, Library book tapes are great and would also increase your son's listening skills as well as listening comprehension/language skills. Not going to the bathroom was a problem for my son when he was not on his diet. So your question is actually quite smart for there is a few connections there. Great Smokies does alot of great lab tests. I would suggest that you find a doctor who does use them of another lab that is reccomended on this site to test for food allegies, metals, etc. Hope you are feeling like you are slowly taking control of this problem for this problem can be worked on and lessened or more. Andy
Oh, I forgot to log on before. The post ahead of this one was my response/answering to superreen. I also wanted to state that when my son was born, we were living in the borough of Queens. I had lived in Manhatten for 10+years before that but I felt that had no connection. I am wondering if there was a bad dose of vaccination shots that went around the tri-state area at that time for alot of children in our area were sick and deathly sick at that time. It was reported in the papers at that time, a small column, as unknown or mystery illness.
