Guest Guest_efgh
Claire, Hope you read my post to you on the thread "LCD screens......". I have a small question for you.. As I told in the other thread, my son is doing pretty fine even with a normal TV if he watches for half an hour per day. with your experience can you please tell me the parameters (that is brightness, contrast, colour , sharpness, etc) preferrable for people with tics even in a normal TV screen. Should i keep the brightness very low? If so, what about the contrast? What about the colour and sharpness generally advisable? thanks.
Claire
Hi efgh, That is awesome to hear! ... and certainly an indication of healing, much as Heather and Ronna (and I think Phyl to some degree) saw. I haven't modified CRT screens, but I assume it is similar to an LCD in that the brightness is the most important, though I do lower contrast a little--not as much If your child were tested for Irlen colors, certain color schemes could presumably help also, but I haven't tried this. With the LCD, I reduce brightness and then find a contrast that still gives a clear picture. For dark movies (Batman) I need to raise the brightness. Again, really really good news. Would you be kind enough to post what you think worked for your son sometime when you aren't as busy? (e.g what vitamins he takes, how you managed and now manage TV). These stories help us all figure out the common elements of success, if anything, and provide hope to newcomers. A new thread like Chemar and Heather did will keep it from getting buried. Guest Guest_efgh
Claire Thanks for your kind words. I would definitely post all the details in the appropriate thread shortly. I started this TV for my son before 3 days and I would like to wait for a week or two more and then confidently I can post the details in that thread. In the mean time, I could not wait to inform you the progress and hence my intermediate post. So would add the details in the other thread in a week or two once I am more convinced with his improvement. In case you hadn't read my post in the previous thread, here it is... Hi Chemar Thanks for your KIND post ( as usual). I know that you are too busy with various activities but please remember that your posts mean so much for us. There are very few dedicated people like you (and Claire) who ensure that so many mothers are benefitted with their rich knowledge and expeirence. Chemar, hope the hurricane stuff did not bother your family MUCH. Thanks for asking. My pain has drastically improved but still the doctor has advised me to be VERY CAREFUL with regard to some swift neck movements etc. He says surgery is the last resort and I obviously DONT want to end up in that situation and hence I am being very careful. As of now, I am doing fine and virtually pain free. Being a jumpy/active character, its going to be a bit difficult for me to be still or quiet! Yeah, my son is doing really well the past 5 months with regard to his tics. His asthma symptoms were a lot under control but suddenly he got his attack a couple of days ago. He is on the path to his recovery though ( with his inhalers!). Claire, would like to add that my son started off with TV watching every day for half hour on a normal screen but 5 m away from the screen and he is doing pretty fine even with that.. THANKS A TON for all your valuable time and effort in educating me in this regard. His tics did increase a bit with the school starting but now he is back to his normal self. I owe a lot to EVERY MEMBER of this forum and would love to keep in touch with you all the time! thanks and goodluck to all of you.
Guest Ronna
I think this has been posted before (I must have read this somewhere)...when we reintroduced television etc to my son we always made sure the room was very well lit...this seemed to help in reducing any tics in relation to TV.
