Guest Guest_lawsmith Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 I wrote about a week ago because my son had started a squeaking tic. We have been squeak free for 4 days, and his cold is getting better. Yea! My son had 3 chiro adjustments in the past 5 days and I think it really helped to rid him of the cold quicker. A cough with him usually lasts a good 14 days and this time he got over it in 6. His teachers say he has been really not noticable at school. I am surprised because at home he is constantly humming and grunting. So for now I feel calmer, but I think it is important to remember that sometimes the tics worry us as parents more than they worry the child who has them. At least in my case that is true. My son will say, Boy I had lots of tics today, but he is matter of fact, not worried or upset. I can take comfort in that. I ordered Bonnies supplements and am curious to see how or if they work for him. I told him about the "vitamins" we were getting and he was like "o.k. I guess we can try them. He seems so not worried about this whole experience. He is even going to a sleepover party with 8 other boys! I guess my son is stronger than I! Not bad for a 9 year old. Thanks for the support! lawsmith
Gina Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 It's so nice to hear when kids are doing well!!! My son is also 9 years old and started with a slight vocal tic about 2 weeks ago. His was like a purring sound and a quiet whistle. I thought it might have been due to added stress with school starting up (I live in CA and we started 9/1) but it still hasn't gone away although it has mellowed out a bit. I have to agree that it is more noticable and worrysome to me than to my son. Which I am thankful for. I would much rather carry the burden of worring since he has to carry the burden of the tics..... I am curious about you taking your son to the Chiropractor. How has this helped him? We went to see one a few days ago (I go to him for my back) because my son was having a bad neck/shoulder tic that was actually causing him pain in him neck from ticcing so bad. He didn't do any adjusting on my son. Just a consult and x-rays so far. Thanks Gina
