Allergy and ramp in symptoms?

Hi - our currently symptomless PANDAS dd6, had a moderate to severe reaction to pistachios last night. (We are aware of this allergy and have a epipen for it, which we didn't need to use).

 

Her face was somewhat swollen, lips swollen, swelling/pain in mouth, pain in throat and gut pain, and then delayed coughing and sniffling.

 

I was wondering if other parents with symptomless kids, have seen a ramp in PANDAS after this type of immediate allergic reaction (rather than the slow burner seasonal allergy type)?

We have seen ramp up after both acute allergic exposures and chronic ones (seasonal) in my ds6. Interestingly, they are a little different than the infectious flares - more really bad mood, irritability, defiance, but not really any OCD or urinary issues, and very, very light on tics. So I'm not sure if it's really part of "PANDAS" or if it's just a separate allergic reaction. The quick behavioral reactions to foods, though, were what led us to do food allergy testing for him in the first place.

 

Ds3 has no allergies.

We have never seen anything that delayed, as far as I know. So hopefully you are out of the woods!

Hi again - it's slight but it's here. Last night my dd6 woke up twice with bad dreams, unusual but not unheard of for her. Tonight, just as she was falling alseep, she said.."mummy, I'm having bad thoughts" (meaning scary). Sounds vague but this is beginning/tail end episode intrusive thought type stuff that she gets.

 

Just hoping it stays at this level....
