Guest Jean Chan
Hi All, I was recommended this Multivitamin for my son with TS. I am really no good in this and really would appreciate if someone could please help me go thru the ingredients to ensure that there is nothing harmful in them. E.g I have noticed Copper and amino acids are in.. Here goes: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vit A (as beta carotene) Vit C (as calcium, potassium, magnesium, & zinc ascorbates Vit D (as cholecalciferol) Vit E (as D-Alpha Tocopheryl Succinate) Thiamin (As Thiamin HCL) Riboflavin Niacin (as niacin and niacinamide) Vit B6 (as pyridoxine HCL) Folate (as Folic Acid) Vit B12 (as cyanocobalamin) Biotin Pantothenic Acid (as D-calcium pantothenate) Olivol (olive extract, olea europaeal, fruit) Bioflavonoid Complex (Rutin, Quercetin, Hesperidin (citrus spp. L fruit), Green Tea extract-decaffeinated (camellia sinensis hunt, leaves), Bilberry extract (vaccinium Myrtillus L, fruit) Inositol Choline Bitartrate Bromelain Alppha Lipoic Acid Coenzyme Q10 Glutathione Turmeric Extract (curcuma longaL Root) Lutein (Tagetes Erectal Flower) Lycopene Broccoli concentrate (brassica oleracea V Botrytis L Flower) Calcium (as calcium citrate) Magnesium (as magnesium citrate, amino acid chelate and oxide) Iodine (as potassium iodide) Zinc (as zinc citrate) Selenium (as L-selenomethionne and amino acid complex) Copper (as copper gluconate) Manganese (as manganese gluconate) Chromium (as amino acid complex) Molybdenum (as molybdenum citrate) Silicon (as amino acid complex) Vanadium (as vanadium citrate) Ultra trace minerals ----------------------------------------------------------------- Actually I very much wanted to purchase from Bonnie her TS-Plus Control and Mag Taurate but as you know, I live in Singapore, it will be very costly for me to ship all the way here esp on a monthly basis. So I am hoping to source something close to Bonnie's products, if possible. The full serving size and amount of the above multivits can be found on this link: www.usana.com This brand guarantees the potency and pure ingredients of its products but I am just not sure if there are any ingredients that is no good for tics. Thank you in advance. JC
Claire
Jean Chan, Good for you for finding something where you are. Many of those vitamins are on my list. What I would check for is the site that Chemar has posted, to get comfortable with the levels of each. http://healthinfo.healthgate.com/GetConten...&chunkiid=33802 Perhaps you can post the amounts--I couldn't find it easily on that link... I went through your list and marked the ones my son takes, but his program was customized for his particular deficiencies. Vit A (as beta carotene) YES Vit C (as calcium, potassium, magnesium, & zinc ascorbates YES Vit D (as cholecalciferol) YES Vit E (as D-Alpha Tocopheryl Succinate) YES Thiamin (As Thiamin HCL) Riboflavin YES Niacin (as niacin and niacinamide) Vit B6 (as pyridoxine HCL) YES Folate (as Folic Acid) YES Vit B12 (as cyanocobalamin) Biotin Pantothenic Acid (as D-calcium pantothenate) YES Olivol (olive extract, olea europaeal, fruit) Bioflavonoid Complex (Rutin, Quercetin, Hesperidin (citrus spp. L fruit), Green Tea extract-decaffeinated (camellia sinensis hunt, leaves), Bilberry extract (vaccinium Myrtillus L, fruit) Inositol YES Choline Bitartrate Bromelain Alppha Lipoic Acid YES Coenzyme Q10 YES Glutathione YES Turmeric Extract (curcuma longaL Root) Lutein (Tagetes Erectal Flower) Lycopene Broccoli concentrate (brassica oleracea V Botrytis L Flower) Calcium (as calcium citrate) YES Magnesium (as magnesium citrate, amino acid chelate and oxide) YES Iodine (as potassium iodide) Zinc (as zinc citrate) Selenium (as L-selenomethionne and amino acid complex) YES Copper (as copper gluconate) BE CAREFUL with this one, should be low vs the zinc Manganese (as manganese gluconate) Chromium (as amino acid complex) Molybdenum (as molybdenum citrate) Silicon (as amino acid complex) Vanadium (as vanadium citrate) Ultra trace minerals --Claire
Guest Jean Chan
Thanks Claire, for your speedy reply. I was actually comparing the amounts and realised that they are actually quite low even thought the suggestion was to take the supplements 3 times a day. I am actually re-reading Chemar's great post on the treatments that have helped her son.. would like to know whats 5HTP? I am not going to consult my son's neurologist again whether its ok to take supplements along with haldol, because I remember he said more than once nonsense he (the doc) is also taking it too! I wonder if he is referring to he is having TS and is taking the drug too! BTW, I have gone down another mg of haldol for my son, but I noticed his tics creeping back in (but not very serious though), so I guess I must hurry to the nearest natural store with Chemar's list and hope to get something there this evening before it becomes serious. Yep, one more thing, my son while walking on the street, has this habit of turning back every few steps to turn around and check behind. I asked him why and he replied he just had to do it because he always feel that he has left something behind. I think this action is quite dangerous especially on the road! And this doesnt sound like TS right? I suspect is OCD. Thanks for listening. JC
