Hi I am new here. My son is almost 8. We have known he has TS for a few years now. All of a sudden 2 weeks ago his tics exploded! He also was diagnosed with a sinus infection. He is a step carrier also. (Ya know no symptoms but he always has it in him) The reg. doc thought the tics would go down after the infection was treated with antibiotics. Instead it has increased. Vocal noise tics with only a few seconds of pause.

I saw a few post about chlorine and other chemicals. I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard anything about humidifier cleaner chemicals? My husband fills and runs the thing constantly.

I'm just looking at eveything right now.

Hi Newbie,

I'm new here too, but one thing that comes to mind besides the chemicals in the humidifier is the possibility of mold in your home from having a humidifier running all the time. Mold is a pretty common tic trigger from what I've read. We actually have a de-humidifier running a lot of the time and it pulls about 2 liters of water out of our air every day. Since we started using it, there's no more mold growing in the corners of our windows. It's something to think about.

Thanks Susie,

I don't have any visible mold but this is a very good point I can bring to my husband.
