melanie Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Dans on Prednisone and Clindmycin he seems to have a rash on his face Im not sure if its just acne from the steroids or what ...ughhhhhh This crap never ends huh??? His behavior is much better but his cursing is worse He seems to be hearing us stammer more when we talk. Melanie
thereishope Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 How long has he been on the steroids for? My son only did a 5 day burst and there was no adverse reactions. Is it a rash or like dry skin? Does he scream when you try to point an ointment or cream on it like it burns? Does it look like a rosacea rash. I probably totally misspelled that.

Tomorrow will be week 3 heson 10 mg 2x a day.Hes very calm still ticcing but only the cursing (only huh thats the worst tic he has) he has pretty much stopped the leg twisting just bending a little . The rash lookslike blemishes maybe acne like. I havent put anything on it maybe its just 15 year old boy acne? Definitly has changed since the steroids. Melanie
thereishope Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Even though the cursing started out as a tic, has it been discussed if it turn into a form of habit that will eventually have to be addessed in a different way? As for the rash, someone else once posted about little pimple like rash, but I can't remember what it ended up being. If it's acne, I'd be leary to put topical acne ointments on it. The abx could be drying out his skin and that could make it worse. If you have any oil free moisturizer for sensitive skin, you can try that for a few days. If his skin is dry, it might sting for the first day, upon application. The dry skin could cause blemishes too. Dermatologists would recommend using a facial cleaser like Basis.
monarchcat Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 My son developed an itchy, acne-like (tiny whiteheads) rash on his chest and belly in his fourth week of a 30 day steroid treatment (he was on abx, too) Dr. said it was either viral or folliculitis. Dr. told us to wash with antibacterial soap for a few days and it did go away. I had read that there is a type of folliculitis that is more common during antibiotics and steroids. At the time, I believe I read that it was more common on the face, but can't remember for sure.
