thereishope Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 In the article "Amoxicillan failure in strep throat" (http://www.entrepreneur.com/tradejournals/article/169459644.html) it is cited that Dr Pichichero thinks the guidelines for strep throat treatment may change in 2009. As he states... The American Academy of Pediatrics" 2006 Red Book still recommends amoxicillin as first-line therapy, but I'm guessing that will not be the case in the next edition, due out in 2009. Does anyone know if a new treatment protocal was ever adopted? I tried to pull up the 2009 Red Book online, but you need a subscripiton to view the treatment part. It doesn't appear my library has a copy, but I will call when they open.
