laura s Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 My non-verbal son acts like he just broke his leg when he only bumped it. One little boo boo can throw him into a crying fit for 1/2 hour or so. I was wondering if this hypersensitivity to pain, light, sound (covering ears), etc. is related to PANDAS? Do any of your verbal kids complain about pain or sounds, etc.?? Thanks. Laura
dut Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 The "Out of Sync Child" is a good book to read to understand some of these sensory processing issues kids can have. Our dd has significant issues with this stuff when in an episode....
thereishope Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Yes. If you brush up against him, he'd say you hurt him. He hates being tickled. He says that hurts. He still says that. As for light, ultra sensitive to that as well.He didn't appear to be sensitive to sound. He was also ultra sensitive to hot and cold. Food and bath water.
earnestfamily7 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 My son was very sensitive to sounds... We were told he had an audotiry processing issue just before his 1st 'dramatic onset" I agree the out of sync child is a great book! It helped us a ton when Jordan was 1st diagnosed.... My daughter has trouble with textures and sounds during epiodes... I call it the 1t dramatic onset because as I review his med history there are little things that may have been precursor symptoms...
