Hi anyone have an issue with sight .At school today danny complained to the teacher that his eyes hurt and that he couldnt see the stripes on the american flag. Also when he was writing he said he couldnt see the words on the paper. This happened quickly and went away just as fast. Hes acting fine but well wanted to put this out there.I called the psy and the neuro both think it may have been the increase in the risperadal. So Im going back to the original dose of .5x2

Yes, early on... my dd had this type of issue many times, but it was off and on...AND before we knew anything about pandas. One time she was playing on the play ground and ran into a (at school) beam; head on. I had her optic nerve checked out because of it. In the end... all those type symptoms are gone... she is a year out from IVIg and doing good. She was also on risperadal at the time.... I really don't want to comment on that medication; but I don't think it is appropriate for children with the symptoms our kids have.

I wish your family the best!

i'd ask your neurologist if there could be a connection with migraine headaches or occular migraines. there have been some posts on here about people trying to see if there is a connection with pandas - such as those prone to migraines may also be prone to pandas.

i get migraines with aura - strange neurological problems that then go away. sometimes i feel a little funny and if i look at a person's face i'll know it's a migraine b/c i can't see the 3D of the face properly. i can also test it by looking at a page of written words - the words jump around or some appear blocked and i can't read it properly. i also get sun blind spots and zigzags that look like snow on a TV.

could certainly be an increase in med but if you're already seeing a neurologist, could be something to ask about. the coming quickly and then leaving - my migraines vary in time and severity - but sometimes i may have a visual symptom for 15 minutes and then it's gone.

Hi Melanie:

My son also had sight issues. Actually, the few weeks post IVIG were the worst. He would look at things and say that everything looked smaller than it was. He said "Ella (our dog) looks the same size as our guinea pig right now mom. Everything is so small." These symptoms did go away.

My daughter had huge issues with vision in her post t & a exacerbation. She was so light sensitive she couldn't even use her communication device, or the computer, or watch tv...it was so bad. Now she pushes on her eyes a lot. the eye doc can't find anything wrong.

OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!! There are so many things that happen its so hard to 'document' them all. Just YESTERDAY my son stood up, and immediately went into tunnel vision. He just kinda of yelled out "hold on what's going on?" It was really scary to him. It only lasted a short time. I dismissed it as the medicine or he stood too fast. He is like 3 weeks post IVIG, and on Risperidal and Zithromycin. That's very interesting.

I can't believe you just mentioned the tunnel vision. My son who is 12 and on zith has the same thing once in a while. I wasn't sure if its the PANDAS or the zith or just him. He says that sometimes when he gets up to fast he gets fuzzy feeling and light headed. The other day he actually fainted and I caught him. That's when I decided to go the pediatrician and draw blood again. Kathy
