thereishope Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 How does anestesia used during a surgery like t and a vary from that used at the dentist? It seems like decent amount of kids had an exacerbation following t and a surgery and others have one after a trip to the dentist that involved laughing gas.
dcmom Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 I agree- I will now be concerned with any type of sedation...

When my daughter has a dental procedure other than cleaning or check up, she has to be completely anesthetized, much like she was for t & a surgery....I don't know the exact anesthesia used, for each procedure- but at the dentist they only used the nitrous long enough to hook up the IV. I don't know if they used nitrous 1st for the t & a or not.
thereishope Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 For t and a surgery, he breathed in a gas first with a mask. They inserted the iv once he was asleep. The gas worked really fast.
