mommy007
Hello, My DS who was diagnosed in Feb. with pandas - has been treated for ADHDwith stimulants for 3.5 years. Now he is off stimulants and has been on an antibiotic for 3 months. His stammer, which he has had for 4 years is gone! His tics are gone! His OCS is gone. He still goes to the bathroom way too much, wiggles and has issues with concentration. But I am going to stick with the antibiotic for now. I am going to get probotics - to add to his diet - so glad to have found this site will such great information. My DS had had symptoms of Pandas for 4 years. I have written to the NIH and last week I received a email from a woman. She invited me to call her to discuss DS. I called her, she works with Susan Swedo. She told me they are about to release a new study that has been concluded. Children were treated with an antibiotic and a plecebo, however the plecebo was another antibiotic and both groups of children did well. She also mentioned they are in the process of revisiting the children from the original pandas/antibiotic/ivig studies. they currently have tracked down 15 children, they are ages 13-23. Once they have contacted all the children they can they will release a followup study.
