Suzan Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 We have a few teeth issues here.... DD6 is losing her top front teeth. One will probably be out tonight. Anyone have any PANDAS episode issues with losing a tooth? DD8 needs to have a cavity filled. I have heard that there have been issues with dental work. Any recommendations? Will it help if I get her on full dose antibiotics before getting the filling? Any other adivce, warnings, etc? Thanks. Susan
mama2alex Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 You may already be aware of this, but please don't let them give her amalgam fillings - they are about 50% mercury. I had 11 of these until 6 years ago when I was diagnosed with mercury poisoning. I was not eating a lot of fish, so there's nowhere else it could have come from. The American Dental Association denies that the mercury from the fillings can get into the body, but don't believe it.
dut Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Our d had a minor flare with the loss of her 1st tooth... she was/is on proph abx 500mg zith once/week but was midway thru her week, so we gave her an abx course and she was fine within a few days to a week. Now I make sure we bring her proph abx forward if she loses a tooth or visits the dentist. We've had 2 dentist cleans and another lost tooth since with no problems.
thereishope Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 My son lost 4 teeth since his PANDAS diagnosis. 2 of them were during an exacerbation. I warned him for awhile before they actually came out. He had no issues at all. None with losing the tooth itself. No increase or resurfacing of symptoms. He did not, however, not want to part with his teeth. So, they are kept in a bowl on his dresser. He's actually not the first kid I know who didn't care about the tooth fairy, so I didn't think it was a big deal.
