My son has had yeast problems for years and now it looks like he might be diagnosed with an immune deficiency. I'm wondering if others are seeing a correlation. If so and you've had IVIG or PEX, did either of these eliminate the yeast problems? Just trying to connect the dots.

Thanks!

I find this an interesting question especially since we are dealing with yeast too. I found this article which is a little heavy for me this morning but I thought I'd pass it along. This is the link to the page I was looking at:

http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/pagerende...amp;pageindex=1

and this is the beginning:

http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlere...i?artid=1141187

I also saw some references on google that indicated that immune deficencies can present themselves as Candida.

Probably not much help for you but it did get me thinking....

Thanks for the links Susan. I think this might be an important question for the following reason: If certain kids are dealing with yeast flare-ups and haven't had immune testing done, this could be a clue for the parents that they need to look into whether their child has an immune deficiency. We are already on this path, but I wish I had known this years ago. Perhaps we would have had a diagnosis and treatment before the whole thing got out of hand.

I asked if her biopsies would show yeast/candida and I was told yes. I will let you know what they find since obviously she has the immune deficiencies. Our Doctor did tell me that if/whatever they do find will be complicated by the immune issues and we will likely need to consult with an expert in immune deficiencies and the gut.
