ems Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 My son 8 developed pandas (symptoms that he was originally diagnosed with at the Psychologist consisted of OCD, Ticks, BP and ADAD) last December after a whole house episode of strep last November. After months of teats, doctors, Immunologists, Cunningham's test, etc... we went ahead with IVIG 2 weeks ago. Right after the treatment my sons pressured speech got immediately better but after a few days he started to studder again. His symptoms have been getting worse (but we are starting to ween him off Respertal). The big question.... When have people noticed their child getting better? I have heard anywhere from 30 days of noticeable improvement up to a year. He really can not be in a school setting and we are thinking about pulling him out for a period of time until he heals. Thanks, Eddie

Thanks, Eddie Hi Eddie, Sorry your son is going through this. I don't really feel qualified to answer your question because my dd who received her first IVIG back in July has had it two additional times--NOT for her Pandas though. She has an additional immune issue in which she will receive IVIG monthly. If you have the time, you can look through past posts to see how some of the other kids have done post IVIG. Most parents have IVIG Update or something similar in the title so you will be able to pick them out easily. Sam
KeithandElizabeth Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 Hi Eddie: Dr. K us that with children under the age of 10 years old, you should notice differences anywhere between 1 day and 6 weeks post IVIG. Elizabeth
chrisw Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 Hi Eddie, Is your son on prophylactic antibiotics? Did he get his IVIG with Dr. K?
