dmc2267
Diana,I think I understand, but could I ask what about this article above has interested you? Is it because you feel that a part of the brain was being targeted by the neurofeedback, and now that this article suggests it may not be that part afterall, that it may have actually worked adversely on your son? you are saying he didn't really have tics before this? and the neurofeedback was for anxiety and calming? Forgive me for being inquisitive about this, but your experience may actually put some part of the puzzle in place. Are you agreeing with the article or disagreeing? Anything you could say about what you think is going on would be good to help some of us figure some things out, i.e. why or why not some are helped by certain things and why some are not. I may not be making much sense, but I am interested in what you were told about neurofeedback and how exactly this would work and help your child. thanks Faith What interested me in the article was "The researchers said they identified alterations in the frontal lobe of the Tourette's patients that might be responsible for the pathology of the syndrome." IF my son's tics were caused by the neurofeedback, C6,F6 protocol-wouldn't that be considered an "alteration". Curious if typical TS treatments are not working for my son because the orgin, or maybe this will help treat his tics. No, he did not have them prior and along with the tics his entire personality is different, could be from his now low self-esteen, reaction by classmates, etc, the "bigger picture" understand was there and we were building on it-it needed to be retaught, sensory issues (where you are in space) are now a problem, at times it seems like he was experiencing episodic memory loss were he remembered before. (This is a kids who had an amazing memory). My orginal interest in this was for his focusing. Can I absolutely say all of these things were caused by the Neuro-NO but thosse are some of the things that have changed since for whatever the reason. I did have his tested for PANDAS-negative. CSP
Welcome dmc2267, Our son also has had a slip in his memory. He himself also knows he is not good at keeping notes as he was when he was younger. We feel our son's major trigger was vaccines that caused an explosion of tics. I have tried to follow some of the vaccine posts, but do get confused. When we were at the Texas TS conf. one thing that interested me was the study on the vaccines causing Tourettes, more proof of the vaccines connection to TS then to Autism. Being a Christian I have been very interested in the using of aborted fetal tissue in a lot of vaccines that parents are not told. I have to question putting aborted fetal tissue in our children and could this cause alt. in their brains. So this topic is interesting to me just down a diff. path.
