I did a little research on caustic soda and discovered that although there are some plants that produce a mercury version of it, not all do. Also, the mercury laden version is more economical. If you read the CRA's rebuttal you will see that they don't definitively state that all their HFCS is made with mercury free caustic soda. Regardless of how old the data is, I firmly believe that the HFCS on American grocery shelves still has mercury. I say buyer beware. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
