peglem Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 When my daughter gets sick, she doesn't act sick. No lethargy, laying around, she gets extra, extra hyper! She fits the clinical dx for PANDAS (behavior associated with + strep tests). I was just wondering how many PANDAS kids have that same characteristic? Also, she never runs a fever, in fact her normal body temperature is @ 96.5.

momto2pandas Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 My sons, who have PANDAS, don't get hyper, really - more on the lethargic/depressed/anxious spectrum. But I've heard of many who do go the other way. My older son gets the same way when sick...no symptoms, but VERY hyper! Does he have PANDAS?
Indigo Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 My dd has PANDAS and she doesn't get sick...she gets very hyper, manic, doesn't sleep well and can't fall asleep, screams/rages, severe separation anxiety, throat clearing tics. This week she was put on prednisone before we do the IVIG treatment (and because she had a huge hives reaction to the antibiotic after a month on it)...it's amazing, truly absolutely amazing at the quiet, compliant child that is revealed.
